Hikurangi Hotel

Called in here for a beer with the cuzzie. It was about 3pm on a Friday. Someone was setting up band gear which looked like it was going to be fairly good evening. Definitely a pub vibe, didn’t check for menu or anything but will call in again some day soon.

Don't be put off by the outside, it's actually not that bad inside. The owners are in the middle of renovation hence my 3 stars. It's not a hotel anymore but it's bar is getting busier all the time. Popular with the locals. Friendly atmosphere and ok for kids to come in. They are installing a kitchen and dining room. - good range of beers at the bar. Ales on pump. Need more non alcoholic choice. Unsure what wine available. - 2 pool tables, darts and a gaming room. - limited menu cooked to order from frozen. Clients can bring their own food in. - lounge area dated and a bit shabby but estate agents could describe it as retro shabby chic! - smoking area outside and small garden - prices are low

Just a gravel car park next to the Hotel. But free & felt safe. Good overnight spot to park up.

The pub here is epic! Its a total hole in the wall country pub. The service is great and the guys who run it are super friendly.

Typical country pub. Went during the day so dont know what its like at night. Didnt see much provision for food, but it may have been there.
