Was brought in via ambulance in the worst pain of my life, sobbing and dry heaving from a kidney stone. I was all alone and scared and needed help. I spent the majority of the night sitting in a bright hall being ignored while the doctors and nurses gossiped about the new movies out around me. There were empty rooms. Eventually they got sick of hearing me cry and wheeled me into a loud far off hallway and left me in front of a disgusting bathroom. Every time I tried to beg a passing nurse for help or even just to take out the needle so I could leave I was ignored like I wasn’t there, or worse, they acted like I was being actively annoying. I was left in front of this gross bathroom until the middle of the night when I stumbled onto their office sobbing, begging to just be discharged. I understand working in an ED can be difficult and stressful, I also understand that urgent patients are seen first. But that does not excuse the lack of empathy and cruelty I was shown. I know it can be hard but patients come in terrified and in pain, all we need is some understanding. Please remind your staff that the people coming in aren’t just nuisances. We’re humans who need help.
my thumb got infected after having surgery at Bowen hospital on 29 june i got admitted on the 9th july after 9pm Thursday night to lower hutt hospital plastic surgery ward. on 3rd floor. i could haver never asked for kind and happy nurses it was perfect until i got a migraine on the Thursday. but being from otaki i had never been there before. i have only been to palmy north hospital. in lower Hutt waiting was shorter than palmys 9 hrs waiting. the food ahh i wont go there. one good thing about the nurses all perfect they treated me like a person not a number. all up i got discharged from lower hutt on the 12th july. and from june 28th till probly around august i cant have a drink. so that means having a stiff drink on my birthday that was on 4th july was right out the window yes i did have around 20 odd stiches in my thumb to halfway to my wrist. why did i have the opp. palmy north hospital didnt do it wright the first time that was a year ago when i had a fight with a grinder cutting some steel and the grinder won and it left me with a severed nerves and blood vessels and tendon. : i wont post photos of the stiches they wont make the nice grade and it would probly make others going painful or crash there comps
Nobody likes being at a hospital, but all the nurses and Doctors and the care assistant staff have look after my family member so well and they are super supportive to the family members who are visiting the patients, they have area where you can go make yourself a coffee or tea, all cross the road from main entrance there is a cafe that’s makes are good coffee they have good sections of food, right next door there is store where you can buy magazines, flowers and basic groceries. So big thank you to the ICU team and the plastic unit on Level 3 , your are wonderful awesome people….
rude reception staff which told me to go see my GP. Came at 9.30pm. been coming to hutt hospital for last 15 years and nothing has changed. wonder where all my tax money go. have waited for 7.30 hours already. no improvement to our local medical centre. just absolute pathethic. babies crying, sick people sleeping on chairs. its a disgrace I have to deal with these bunch of clowns in case of emergency and after hours.
The wonderful doctors and nurses literally brought my elderly mother back from deaths doorstep. I'm forever greatful for their compassion and professionalism in the the way they treated and saved my mum. They do a fantastic job prioritising under pressure from overcrowding. Thank You so much, you are all so very appreciated!
