This was an amusingly bad restaurant experience. We all got steamed mussels and they were yummy and fresh. Unfortunately the sauce was unremarkable and the thin sliver of garlic garlic bread that came with it was closer to charcoal. Also the lemonade was actually soda water and they were out of mussel batter.
Travelling South Island for 21 nights and came across the hotel. We came here for lunch. The chef personally came to our table to confirm how the ribeyes were to be cooked. We ordered fish and chips, their house burger, steak sandwich special and two rib eye steak. Garlic cream sauce once poured over the steak melted into the steak. The steak was advertised as 250 grams but definitely bigger than this. Overall, we were very pleased with our lunch and we rated this lunch as one of the best we had via our travels.
Honestly, it's just overpriced. You can get a better burger for half the price and a pint for a 3rd the price 6 minutes down the rd. Plus, you don't have to smell cigarette smoke, and the vib is better.nCheers to the cooks tho, the food is good, just priced too high. Would rather spend 30$ for 2 burgers and a pint instead of 60$.
I recently visited this resteraunt for a reunion meeting of my 4 part triangle harmonica ensemble. We all ordered steam mussels. The sauce was salty beyond belief. Server was nice and friendly. Garlic bread was tiny.
Relaxed atmosphere, a little tired/dated looking inside. Staff are friendly & service is great. Food is pretty good too.
