5 stars for the store. Love buying here but the staff here can be a bit rude. I was in a rush today and had to wear my night gown going out. This lady with short hair behind the counter around 2:40pm was insinuating I wasn't wearing my nightgown as I entered the store. She just wouldn't let it go despite my explanations. Not my fault you don't have good memory lady.nIt was quite demeaning that you're making it look like I stole it.nnGreat Store, Very Rude and Judgmental staff.
Love this store, staff are friendly and helpful. Store is well appointed though a little crowded for wheelchair users, but this will be a reality for many charity shop owners There's only so much room to use. We make do!
Prices are way over the top.. about 5 staff buzzing around not even a good morning from one of them. I know it's a second hand store but a little decent customer service wouldn't go astray.
Every time I've gone in there one particular lady has tried to either overcharge me or give me incorrect change last time she tried to short changed me by $30!. Today I encountered a very rude staff member at the counter when I was buying my son a toy car that wasn't labeled. She told me I'd gotten it out of a bag and wouldn't sell me it on its own, and kicked up a big fuss really embarrassing me, before letting me buy it. My child had found it in the bin with all the other toys. And most of their toys are bagged with toys you wouldn't want to buy, and with ridiculous price tags $8-10 for 4 or 5 hot wheels cars or McDonald's toys etc, crazy overpriced. They also had priced some furniture that needed repairs very high. But after being treated like that today over my son wanting to buy a small toy car I won't be back.
Donator: sadly I have recently had to put my mother into a home. The family decided to donate mum's household stuff to StJohns Rangiora. Upon dropping the stuff off to St John's I told the lady behind the counter that there was a van load of stuff to donate. She replied that's okay. Completely missing the hint that may be a hand to unload it would be great. After I had finished unloading the van by myself I asked the lady, can I give you my cell phone number in case you find any personal or private information as mum likes to hide things in strange places. She replied no come back in two weeks and we'll put it aside if we find anything. Wasn't overly impressed with this solution but oh well. Of course I go back in two weeks and nobody knows nothing about it. As I donator I didn't get a feeling of appreciation for donating my mother's stuff. I have donated stuff to habitat for humanity in the past and had a completely different response. They were grateful to receive the donations and I felt that they were grateful. I feel that the staff need to reevaluate their goals and values as without donators they would not exist. I will not be donating to St John's again.
