No reception staff, had to ring a number t get someone to come. Only interested in taking money. No directions to rooms. Parents room was a shoe box but that’s fine, what wasn’t fine was cockroaches, mum had one run up her leg. At 89 and 95 years old, not good enough. Our room also consisted of cockroaches and bugs on hand towel. Only one towel for two people. Tried to find someone to help, nope, no staff. In morning no reception, got hold of someone and said there would no one until 10. Didn’t seem to be bothered.substandard should have been offered to refund.
Place has great potential, is quiet with a stylish entrance lounge which impresses but after that, the experience is more faulty towers than "grand". Management seems non existent, sadly there is a lack of room maintenance and enough staff to provide the service they are charging for but not delivering. The most frustrating is no staff presence in the evening resulting in my friend having to wait over an hour and several follow up calls to access a spare room key. And it was only 9pm. My room on arrival included a large cockroach in the bathroom, filthy shower tiling grout, leaking shower door, fridge switched off and no milk with tea or coffee facilities and no one to call to resolve With the icing on the cake a $250 unauthorised charge of an extra night stayed 2 instead of 3 and despite several requests, a month later, still no success in receiving a refund or even a response. Buyer beware!
The hotel is beautiful but there was no topper on our bed, just the naked duvet inner, which I doubt is dry cleaned or changed between customers; it felt icky to sit on the bed but there were no other seats in the Seaside King room. We were also given a room without a spa bath just a tiny shower despite all the photos used to advertise the room including one. When I said that it appeared that we had been put in the wrong room, the receptionist quickly moved us rooms but said I should have asked for the spa bath, which seems odd considering we had paid for one as advertised in the room photos. I assume they do this to cut corners. Nevertheless, the spa bath was absolutely amazing and the bed was comfortable. But there was also no shampoo, conditioner, shower gel or baths salts in the bathroom or moisturiser by the basin. Moreover, the kitchen and bar were closed so it felt more like a air bnb room then a serviced hotel. For the price we paid for the night, the room is sorely lacking. If you are after something cute and clean and close to the airport with no vibes then this is the place for you!
Great location but the room was tiny, bed was uncomfortable and the Aircon didn't work properly, made noises and the touch panel kept turning on periodically and lighting up the room. Worst night sleep I've had. Left by 5am. Reception was unnatended with a cell phone number to call.Rooms: 1/5
Staff were amazing and went over and above to provide excellent customer service for us. Seaview king room was lovely. Thank you!

This was a lovely getaway, the rooms were very clean, very comfortable, and the the lady Kim was amazing. The staff went over and beyond to help make my stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting here.Rooms: 5/5

Beautiful and clean. Would be great if they offer breakfast. Room is comfortable. Can be noisy when flights into airport but bearable.
Grand Arden Monaco Please give your business to somewhere else rather than the heartless people who own this hotel. I could not stay because I was trapped in Westport by flood. Westport was under a state of emergency and it was impossible to leave. The hotel simply refused a refund. They eventually offered a replacement day but said I would have to pay the difference in room rate which seems fair doesn’t it. But then said the difference could actually be more than the original price I paid ! I paid $109 and they said I may have to pay up to ANOTHER $120 - depending on room availability . I appealed to AirBnB but they also said tough luck. I’m a superannuant and sometimes need to go to Nelson for an appointment. A hundred dollars is not an insignificant amount to me.
