Friendly service. Disappointing food. Raw fish was bland and tasteless. The size of the $5 scoop of chips is ridiculous. Photo is $10 worth, 2 scoops of chips. Would not recommend.
Service is fantastic. It was a very busy day, and I got my order within 20 minutes. Portion sizes is so generous, and prices are so affordable. I ordered the $10 mussel pack, and a snapper fillet. There was so much food, I couldn't eat it all. All up I paid $17.50. I will definitely come back, if I am in Whakatane again.
Popped in today for a scoop of chips before heading home. Never again. Tiny portion of overly crunchy dry chips. Only ate 2 rest went to the chooks. I can't comment on the fish side of things, I can only hope that they do that better.
We visited with teens on a Saturday afternoon after the Awakeri hot pools. The blackboard listed fresh fish options and Snapper was the only one left but delicious, fresh. Burgers and squid rings, snapper and chips. Great food, seaside location, friendly hard working staff, clean ablutions and we loved it. Will be hard to beat this place. Get in there.
A bit disappointing. The portion size of the chips was hardly a full scoop for $6.50 of kumara fries and they didn’t salt anything nor tell us that we had to salt it ourselves. We left without any salt for our fish and chips!
