I often look at this place as my office is nearby. I tried it for the first and final time today. The staff were nice enough and I ordered a seafood chowder for $18. What came to my table was seafood in a watery broth. I had to check Google to see whether my idea of chowder being thick and creamy was incorrect, but the results came back unanimously that a chowder is thick and cream based. Had I known what was going to be served, I certainly would not have ordered it and I feel that spending more on my lunch but getting less was a huge mistake. Based on this one experience, I'm unlikely to return.
Omg. I don't want everyone to know how incredibly delicious their scones are, lest there be none left for me. Above review was a year ago. Oh has it changed. If only they made their scones before 9am or were even open when I try to go there :
Seafood Chowder was not a chowder! Agree with other comments. Arrived late after rest of party had almost finished their meal. Tea was weak and only warm. Overpriced for what I received.
Whilst this cafe is handy to stop before a cable car adventure, the coffee was burnt and it was an ordinary event ordering food. We found hardly any hollandaise on our eggs Benedict, Florentine and Montreal. My mother got the potatoes on the side of her breakfast and they were rubbery and very unsatisfying. We hope there is improvement for future patrons.
Ordered scrambled eggs $9 without toast and asked to add sausages for $5 and ended up having one cocktail sausage and less than a quarter of a plate of scrambled eggs. Absolutely a rip off and not sure how they cannot be ashamed of themselves to serve something like that for $14
Made the mistake of ordering coffee and food here. Coffee was burnt and tasted like nescafe instant. Staff pretty rude and food was stale. No wonder the place was empty.
FE is located opposite the top of the escalator at the Cable Car Shopping Centre, level 1/282 in Lambton Quay, Wellington nextdoor to Countdown. It is a small cafe, tucked away upstairs from the main, LQ foot-traffic, but handy if you work in or near the CC Centre and need a quick brew. FE is one of a small number of stalls in the CCSC or CCC.
Fantastic staff, solid food. The coffee was great as well - I'll be back.
Very friendly service and decent coffee. No complaints.
Always tidy, nice decor, good coffee and cabinet food, always friendly.
