Story

French Bay House is a beautiful historic villa in the heart of Akaroa. It is the most photographed house in the village due to the stunning gardens and its iconic architectural style. The house is situated close to Beach Road where you will find a number of shops and restaurants along the water front and is within easy walking distance to the wharf where you can catch a number of different boats to see the dolphins and penguins which live in the harbour. The perfect spot for a relaxing stay!

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights and we had a delightful stay. Tim and Jacqui are wonderful hosts who really made us feel welcome and helped make our stay a memorable and fun one. The home is lovely with grand character and classic decor, with the fire always lit in the lounge, it always felt cozy coming back to in the cool of the evening. The best stay in NZ! Jacqui was an amazing host - made us feel home & gave great recommendations for the best dinners while staying here for 2 nights! The room was really cozy, clean and well maintained! We evn enjoyed our tea time in the beautiful garden as well. The cooked breakfast and continental choice was amazing as well! Really enjoyed our moments in Akaroa!
Lovely weekend getaway stay at French Farm Bay House. Jacqui, our host, was excellent and made us feel welcome. The house was very comfortable. We enjoyed coming back after dinner to the beautiful fire that was constantly going in the lounge room. After a lovely sleep, we had a delicious breakfast and headed out to explore some beautiful spots along the coastline.
What a fabulous stay we had with Jacqui and Tim !! A beautiful, pristinely kept gem. Our rooms were well appointed, super clean and very comfortable indeed and very reasonably priced. Jacqui and Tim couldn't have been better hosts. Everything was top shelf..the booking, the welcome, the tour, the beds, the breakfast...... We even took some of Jacqui's divine home-made muesli with us. I will be recommending to all my friends/family that a visit and stay at Jacqui and Tim's family run French Bay house in Akaroa is a must-do !
I would think this is one of the best places to stay in Akaroa. Tim and Jacqui are fabulous hosts. Tim cooks a mean breakfast and you have to meet George.Rooms: 4/5
Amazing location in akaroa. Jacqui looked after us wonderfully. The breakfast was amazing and the rooms were spacious. Made our stay in akaroa perfect! Nice to see that there was a Hong Kong connection too !
We loved our stay - everything about it!! Jacque and Tim are friendly and welcoming. The house has lovely rooms with a relaxing lounge and fire place with books to look over with our wines and cheese from the local cheese maker! To top it all off a delicious cooked breakfast!!
We recently stayed in what must be the prettiest, cutest and most comfy B & B in Akaroa -- French Bay House! Jacqui amd Tim were so friendly, welcoming and generous. Everything was beautiful... the room, house and garden, and the breakfast in the morning was delicious. Can't wait to go back on our next trip to the sea.Rooms: 5/5
Lovely stay there with lots of nice touches including fresh flowers. Cost but spacious sitting room with interesting books. Really nice hosts. Very historic house and nice garden.
Such a great place to stay in Akaroa. Jacqui and Tim are so friendly and welcoming and the breakfasts are delicious.
