I’ve always been hesitant to leave negative reviews because I know how hard local businesses work, and as a local myself I’ve supported this place many times over the years. Unfortunately, after what I witnessed today, I feel this needs to be addressed.nnOne of the most horrible experiences I’ve seen in a store happened here today. A young girl was politely trying to purchase a packet of gravy, and one of the newer employees began aggressively yelling at her because the signature on the receipt didn’t exactly match the signature on her card. Let’s be realistic — most people scribble quick signatures on receipts and this could have been handled calmly and respectfully.nnInstead, this young girl was spoken to in such a humiliating and hostile way that she left the store visibly upset and in tears. There was absolutely no need for that level of aggression toward someone who was being polite and cooperative.nnIt only takes one employee to completely ruin the reputation of a business that many of us in the community have supported for years. Basic human decency and customer service should come first, especially when dealing with young customers.nnMy family and I will no longer be shopping here after this experience, and I truly hope management takes this seriously and provides proper training and discipline where needed. No customer — especially a young girl — should ever be treated this way.nnHorrible horrible horrible
Great selection for a little local, so handy having the nz post service and the staff are always so lovely :
Can’t rely on them to actually be open at the posted hours. I’ve come on multiple occasions when they haven’t bothered to open by their opening time or they’ve closed early. I don’t think I’ll bother anymore because there’s no point going to a more expensive Four Square over a normal supermarket if it’s not even convenient.
19/08/19: As a long-time resident of Titahi Bay, I do tend to shop here when I run short of the basic/essential foodstuffs. This mini-mart/superette occupies a corner site to the left of the local bottle store and has recently undergone some minor renovations, including an automatic sliding door, which has resulted in a more 'supermarket' look with regards to shelving & clearer aisles. As expected, the prices here are a little higher than those of the larger supermarket chains, but are acceptable considering the saving in time/distance from Porirua. And they also have limited Post Shop services. I usually find the staff to be quite friendly & helpful.nOnly gave 4 stars, as some days there can be delays at cash registers due to staff shortages plus there can be delays in stocks of certain items due to their ordering system.
