Fantastic experience, highly recommend as a rest stop. Staff were so friendly and the food was amazing!Food: 5/5
Our experience at the restaurant was greatly enhanced by our attentive and friendly waiter- RAM, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic dining experience. He was knowledgeable about the menu, offered great recommendations, and checked in on us regularly without being intrusive. His professionalism and positive attitude truly made our meal memorable. Thank you
There was one staff quite rude, serving plates on top of people’s head without saying any single words while serving dishes. While other staffs were quite nice. Clean and spacious dining area. The garlic bread was dry and not enough butter in it. Would recommend pizza and other mains. By far not the best in Cromwell.
Ordered the garlic bread, it came out quickly and was very good, would get again. The mains took quite some time, I ordered the Caesar salad, the chicken was great but there was a lot, and a lot of bacon. Good flavors but if you are after a light meal don't get this. Wasn't cos lettuce. My dad got the beef burger, it had two patties, they lacked flavour and had a large piece of gristle in the middle. The staff were friendly and the decor was nice. Would come again but probably just for a beer
Went there on a Friday evening for dinner and it was packed. Lovely appealing exterior stone and wooden building - made to look like a barn or lodge. Seemed to be the busiest place in Cromwell that night with all the locals. Great vibe. Felt like a real small town, farming, southerners pub. Loved all the hunting type, rustic wooden interior design. Couldn't get a table initially so sat on lovely Chesterfield leather couches until a table became free. Bit disappointed that there was no table service when ordering our food. We had to go up to the bar to order. Staff seemed friendly. Had the fried chicken with siracha mayo as a starter which was incredible. So crispy and tasty! Then had the Angus rib-eye steak with winter veg and garlic butter - very good and decent sized portions too. I'd definitely go back there. The other meals on the menu looked great too.
This was my second experience eating at the five Stags. Two years ago it wasn't good and I was silly enough to go back again thinking things might have improved. The menu was almost identical and once again NO Venison on the Menu. Why call yourselves Five stags? We ordered the fish and both my mother and I were highly disappointed. The batter was disgusting, thick and cooked to a hard crust, which once broken through revealed a tasteless overcooked piece of fish. Neither of us could finish our meal. To our surprise the people on the next table had a pizza served to them. When I commented that we never saw that on the menu, I was told that there was another bar menu that we were not offered. When I went to pay and complained about the food, I got offered a $5 discount, whippee, only the find later that I had been charged an extra $8 surcharge because it was a public holiday. I would not recommend eating in this restaurant.
Limited beer choice, and lower than average food quality. Had pizza which came with ingredients not on the menu which for us made it inedible, went over the road and bought a very nice pepperoni, should have gone there first.Food: 2/5
The service was the standout, the staff were delightful, and competent. The food was average. The salad with my meal was drowned in dressing, and so soggy. We were in the private dining room- it was noisy and hot, with no way to let in air- the windows would not open.Food: 3/5
I’ve been here several times over the last couple of months and it’s always been quite disappointing. Food takes an incredibly long time to come out, regardless of how busy they are. Once waited over an hour for a bowl of fries. We followed up 3 times after the hour and they finally arrived after a ‘printer issue’. Service is always average at best, long lines at the bar, multiple staff behind it but only one person serving. A very underwhelming experience every time so far.
Unfortunately the service wasn't that great. Starting at the bar waiting to get served and barstaff just ignore me. Food was nice just overwhelmed with chips. But I did enjoy the steak. Atmosphere big plus.Food: 4/5
