About

The precinct was created after the rising waters of Lake Dunstan covered Cromwell's main street. Local volunteers rebuilt and salvaged stone buildings.

100% worth stopping by for a stroll. Beautiful scenery with an interesting history.. take your time, enjoy the half buried structures, aged wooden stores, a peaceful jetty..
Good work done to recreate the old main st precinct. Nice selection of shops, cafes, restaurants, excellent market day and other events held there during year. Must visit.
Lovely spot to visit when passing through or staying in Cromwell... beautiful scenery.
Interesting village to spend time looking through. No charge to look at Historic buildings. Best attend during business hours
Very interesting looking at all the old shops and history of the area, plenty of places for a coffee and meal. Electric bike hire and holiday information available. Plenty of toilets.
An excellent repositioned and restored heritage buildings area overlooking the beautiful rivers. Some lovely shops. Excellent cafes and restaurants. A must to go and walk around.
Lovely old town. Great preservation work....
I think the people of Cromwell should be proud of this piece of history. It was great grabbing a coffee from the cafe situated in the old seed and grain store building and walking around the "old town". Our daughter loved the old stables and horse drawn carts.
What a wonderful piece of history to visit. The market day was lovely.
Super cute little spot to explore, eat and relax to break up any trip
