We stopped in for a coffee while out on a walk. It was a busy Saturday morning, but there were still plenty of tables available. The food menu looked fantastic, nand we'll come back on another visit for breakfast or brunch. The coffee was good, and my tasty cheese scone came with plenty of butter bonus points for that. Their smoothies were also delicious. We'd definitely recommend this eatery.
Enjoyed breakfast at Fig Tree Cafe this morning with my husband. Great staff, excellent service. A converted church houses this cafe. Very busy this morning, which is testament to the great food, atmosphere and vibes.
We are so disappointed by our experience today - a busy mother's day which was clearly a speed-feeding opportunity for the cafe to make as much money as possible by gross overbooking. My husband booked 4 weeks in advance for 11am- a table for 5 and a high chair. We arrived just before 11 and were seated at 11.05 after the table had been cleaned down from the previous occupants. We were told the table needed to be vacated by 12pm. We took 5-10 minutes to make our decisions, then waited 10 minutes in the queue to order. Meals arrived at 11.45. We barely had time to eat before being herded out. The tables were so closely packed, there was no room for the highchair so we abandoned it and held the child on our knees. People were trying to shuffle between tables but there was no room as things were so tightly packed. This created some serious safety issues, particularly for the many elderly that were there. Staff were clearly embarrassed by the situation that had been created for them. All in all, not an pleasant experience at all and not one we'll be repeating.
The fig tree is hands down one of my top brunch spots. The staff are incredibly helpful and efficient - especially during the busy peaks.nnFood is 10/10, we always get a mix off the menu, cabinet food and specials on the board and they’ve never missed the mark! Super affordable for the portion size. A consistent highlight would be the lamb sausage roll from the cabinet! It’s rare to find sausage rolls that aren’t pork mince and these guys do it so well.nnBest spot in Trentham!!
Solid cafe in Upper Hutt and is very consistent with their quality. Really enjoyed their soup of the day. Only $14.50 for soup of the day which was packed with chicken, beans, veg and two large slices of sour dough. It was our second time getting the frittata from their cabinet and it was the exact same despite it being over a year since we bought it last. Was really impressed by that consistency. Coffee and cake was also great, the cake was surprisingly not too sweet unlike most other cafes in Upper Hutt which tend to go for a sweeter richer cake that I’m not a fan of.
