Absolutely incredible dining experience at Fife Lane on Friday night for our 8:30pm booking. From the moment we arrived, everything about the evening was exceptional.nnFor entrées we had the Mibrasa grilled prawns, Greenstone Creek beef carpaccio, and the Hokkaido scallop cevichè — every dish was beautifully presented, packed with flavour, perfectly cooked, and arrived surprisingly quickly without making us feel rushed at all. The pacing between courses was spot on and it genuinely felt like the kitchen was paying attention to the overall experience, giving us time to relax, talk, and enjoy each dish properly.nnThe absolute standout for us was the oysters — we had four kiwifruit granita oysters each, plus two Paloma oyster shots. Honestly, these were the BEST oysters we have ever had, and we’ve eaten a lot of oysters! The kiwifruit granita was fresh, vibrant, and paired perfectly with the oysters.nnFor mains, we shared the special of the night, Rib Eye on the bone, and chef Lucas cooked it absolutely PERFECTLY. Easily one of the best steaks we’ve ever had.nnWe were also so appreciative of the opportunity to meet, greet, and personally thank Chef Lucas, and commend him and his team for creating such an amazing dining experience.nnThe service from Jess and Brianna was outstanding — attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional throughout the night. Empty glasses and plates were cleared almost immediately, and their recommendations and descriptions of the meals and cocktails were fantastic.nnWe enjoyed the food so much we didn’t even have room for dessert!nnBeautiful place, beautiful service, beautiful kai. Fife Lane deserves to win even more awards. We’ll definitely be back.
Came here for a celebratory lunch. It’s $70 per person for your choice of entree and main.nnI opted for the muscles as my starter and market fish with prawn and risotto for my main.nnThe muscles were excellent, very tender. We got eight each and they were served in a creamy coconut broth with pickled chilli and coriander.nnThe market fish was amazing! It was crispy skinned tarakihi served with a prawn, squid ink risotto, peas and broccoli. The fish was sweet, juicy and flaky - essentially spot on. All the accompaniments were also beautifully cooked and seasoned. I appreciated how it was a decent portion, like a proper meal not like a tiny, fancy fake meal.nnWe also got some sides of mixed roast veges and hummus which I highly recommend.nnWhile the food was 10/10, service was a bit lacking. There were very long waits e.g at one point one of our group asked for another wine and only received it 20 minutes later after asking a waitress if it was on its way. We ordered our mains at 1:00pm and received them at 2:15pm. I think they might have been desperately understaffed. We wanted to order dessert but after waiting to order for a while we decided we better just leave, as we were only in the region for 1.5 days and didn’t want to spend the entire time waiting for courses in Fife Lane.nnNot normally something I comment on, but the music was awful! Like Michael Jackson as a child ect. The atmosphere would’ve far better with a more low key playlist.nnOverall food 5/5, service 2/5, atmosphere 3/5.
Had a wonderful experience at Fife Lane! The service was outstanding from start to finish — the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. You can tell they take real pride in what they do. Highly recommend if you’re in Mount Maunganui and looking for a great spot with excellent hospitality. Will definitely be back!
Fife Lane, you’ve done it again, and by “done it,” I mean delivered the kind of dinner that makes me briefly consider abandoning real life to become a full‑time restaurant groupie.nnOpened with the Tuna Crudo, which was so fresh I’m convinced it had life goals earlier that day. The Lamb Backstrap arrived cooked so perfectly I felt personally judged for every overdone steak I’ve ever made.nnThen came the Brandy Snap — absolutely nothing like what I expected, absolutely everything I didn’t know I needed. Best I’ve had, hands down.nnService? Casual, professional, laid‑back… basically the dinner equivalent of that friend who’s cool without trying.nnWe’ve been four times over the last few years, and this was the standout. Great work team — see you again soon, probably sooner than my wallet would prefer.
Beef Wellington was great, and good value for money. I got the hanger Wagyu steak. Was absolutely fantastic and melted in your mouth.nThe desert was great and the cocktail was tiramisu flavour which was spot on!nnExpensive menu but food and service lived up to the price. So if you want fine dining with a more casual atmosphere highly recommend.
