Story

Egmont nationalpark är en nationalpark på den västra kusten till Nordön i Nya Zeeland. Parken omfattar en yta på 33 534 hektar runt den 2 518 meter höga vulkanen Mount Egmont, eller Mount Taranaki som dess namn är på maori. Det första skyddet av området gjordes år 1881, då ett skogsreservat med en radie av 9,6 kilometer runt berget bildades. Gradvis lades mer land till reservatet och år 1900 gjordes området till en nationalpark, den andra i Nya Zeeland efter Tongariro nationalpark.

Walked in a short distance from the enf of Mangorei Road. Great.
very nice view from the mountain. we was there to hike to the top. but the weather changed and its was not possible to did that. but i will come back to hike it. ;
Great huts and the tracks which we did were in amazing condition without being highways. Such a diverse array of ecosystems in the park too.
If you can find a day without cloud then the views are amazing, shortly worth climbing a few steps. Lots of different tracks to suit all people.
