Story

Karen has been a successful Driving Instructor for many years, with the majority of her students passing their driving test on their first attempt.

She has a desire to help young people achieve their goal of passing their driving test and making sure they have the skills required to be safe when driving out on the road.

What she enjoys most about her role as a driving instructor is seeing her students succeed and the excitement this creates in those who have just passed their driving test, and the knowledge that she has contributed in guiding them in their success.

She has a thorough knowledge of road rules and traffic regulations and has worked in law enforcement for over twenty-five years.

She is patient, has very good communication skills and enjoys motivating her students to be the best drivers they can be. She has experience working with people from many cultures and has the ability to motivate others to be safe and confident drivers.

Karen is also passionate about safety on the road while driving, and has been instructing Defensive Driving courses for the past eight years. This gives her the opportunity to reinforce safe driving practices and make young people more aware of what is happening out on the road. Many of her students comment about how much more aware they are after completing the Defensive Driving course. She also does driving assessments for those driving Company vehicles, and provides a written report for each employee.

She gives lessons in Palmerston North and Feilding. Her Driver-Training car is an automatic vehicle with dual controls which her students can use, or, they can use their own vehicle – either automatic or manual (however those wishing to have lessons in a manual car need to have done some driving previously and have use of their own vehicle).

She has experience in teaching drivers who have never driven before, those who have done some driving and want an expert to guide them through the requirements of passing their restricted or full licence test, as well as those who have an overseas licence and want to convert it into a New Zealand licence. She is also able to assist those who may have lost their confidence or who haven’t driven for a number of years.
