Delicious food, comfort our souls and stomachs after a long detour from road blockage due to road closure in current raining weather. Hosts are a pair of lovely couples who had a nice chat with us. Do drop by, highly recommended for the food and hospitality.Food: 5/5
Beautiful experience, Lovely staff and owners. Beautiful place to unwind and enjoy some delicious food. We dined in the outdoor area and was able to bring our dog with us too which was very convenient, There is also a bowl of water for the dogs they leave outside which is quite nice and thoughtful. Dog needs to be on a leash
Absolutely lovely place! Very delicious food and super friendly people. I felt like visiting some family members. It’s more than hospitality. Nice restaurant in the quiet town of Waihi. Owners were very friendly and recommended the lamb. Some of the best I have ever tried. Would recommend if you're looking for some fine dining on your travels in the North island of NZ
This is our favorite Cafe & Restaurant in Waihi. The coffee is so delicious, the homebaking exceptional and the lunch menu fabulous. The location is off the main road, so take the time to visit and you will be delighted with such personalized service and a eating experience that will have you returning over and over. Parking: Generous parking, so brining the motorbike trailer no problem

Wow! A secret well hidden in the back of a suburban landscape. Add this to your road trip, Down Thyme is a reason to visit Waihi if you didn't have one already. If you've been meaning to go for a while, you'll regret not going already and regularly. Down Thyme Restaurant is a fine dinning experience, and one that will live up to your expectations. Comparing Down Thyme to the restaurants in the upper end of the restaurants in Wellington, I'd say they can hold their own and give them a run for their money. Everything we ordered for six adults and variety of tastes was excellent. From slow cooked beef cheek that almost literally melts in your mouth to fish of the day. And not excluding the home made lemonade which was ordered multiple times due to its tasty flavour. Everything we experienced.... Fantastic. The chef visited our table and hostess took our jibes well and gave them back to us much to our delight. Highly recommended.
It's rare to find genuine hospitality like this in the hospitality industry. The owner made us feel like welcome guests here rather than just customers. The restaurant location seems a bit out of the way at first but it makes sense once you get there - there's a nice relaxing view of the countryside from the villa windows. I could recommend the unique homemade burger with Turkish bread followed by Turkish coffee. We also saw guests drop by on their bikes for ice cream or coffee. We hope to come back here next time we're in the area.
We were in a rush, and luckily, the staff was really nice and made 4 dishes in under 10 minutes, amazing quality, really delicious. We finished the food quickly and weren't late for our next trip.
