ABOUT: DOJO FITNESS
Started in June 2016, Dojo Fitness is a hub for fitness classes aimed to enhance martial arts performance. Exercises chosen help improve martial arts specific techniques, strength, stamina, speed, balance and flexibility. The classes are run in a karate dojo so no shoes are allowed on the tatami mats, training is done barefoot.
Martial arts is a lifestyle and, similarly, Dojo Fitness is run with the same ethos in mind. Making a lifelong commitment to your health and fitness, always striving to learn new skills and working with others to improve together are all part of what martial arts are about. So should group exercise.
BOOTCAMP
Many bootcamps run for a short period of time but this is run all year round. A wide range of techniques and exercise types are used to give you a holistic style of strength and fitness. This includes, weights, cardio, speed and agility, boxing/martial arts and teamwork.
Sessions will differ each time to keep your body adapting and prevent your fitness results hitting a plateau. Although the structure is largely the same:
- 5 mins: warm-up
- 40 mins: main training
- 15 mins: cool down & stretch

F2F is harmonious marriage of martial art techniques rhythmically synchronised to the finest uplifting dance music to create an energy charged training experience.
F2F practically forges combinations of stances, punches, blocks and kicks to generate a feeling of realism. The tempo of the class enables participants to execute moves safely, technically and with the requisite intensity.

- Emergency First Aid
EXPERIENCE
- 4 years as group fitness instructor and personal trainer
- Trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (British Army) and was in the top third for physical fitness
- Trained in martial arts for over 10 years and currently represents NZ in karate
- Has been leading fitness sessions for the NZ National Karate Squad Training Camps since 2013
- Volunteered teaching sport and motor skills to children during studies at the University of Exeter
- Taught First Aid with The British Red Cross as an educator
