De Fontein Belgian Beer Café

Awesome location, the balcony is facing the mission bay beach. Great for outdoor lunch during sunny days. The ice chocolate is delicious and plenty. Grilled mussel is okay, I expect hot and spicy when ordering the one with chili, but seem it use pickled chili sour taste.

As a belgian, I was so happy to find this place. The beer choices is amazing, so many good beer from home, I was really happy. It is great to find a piece of Belgium out here in New Zealand. The only negative point would be the fries, Real belgian fries are cooked twice so they taste nice and crispy : the fries we got looked so pale and sick ...but it is a small detail. Staff was great : I would recommend, and if you are belgian in Auckland , go there !!

We went there at the weekend. It was cloudy, so it wasn't too busy.nThe waitress was nice and gave us outside sitting so we could enjoy the scenery.nThe food was nice with a good match with the beer.nWe just got the finger food, and it was deliciousnOverall, we enjoyed our time there and certainly will go there again.

I use to love coming here for mussels but these were tasteless, overcooked and dry. Next to no juices at the bottom just too much of this thick white cream. They were understaffed when we first arrived and it reflected in the service and the attitude of the staff. I don’t blame the staff for that they tried their best but were visibly stressed. One girl to serve the whole upstairs floor is insane. Eventually another guy joined her to help out.

We went today and the service was amazing!! Our waitress was Sofia, a very kind, nice and helpful person. Absolutely we gonna come back. She also explained to us all the menu.nAlso the French and Mexican girls I didn’t ask them names were amazing with us.nToday the staff was wonderful.
