You can not drive your vehicles without snow chains during the snowing days even 4wheel Dr vehicles. Prepare them before you go to the peaks. We were stuck in the hall as roads are blocked during heavy snowing that all of the people can only leave the peak by the shuttle buses. People are very orderly following the staffs' directions and they provided hot chocolate and chips for free. Awesome!
Splendid ski fields.....so beautiful in the winter ski season with lots of facilities around including a great pub and restaurant. Lots of shops to buy or hire ski gear. So many parking lots but are not that great though....lots of muddy lots but free shuttle is a consolation!
We arrived at 8.30 and it was overcast but gorgeous. The staff were amazing and we took the Gondola upto the summit...As we were there a while I needed to come down to use the ladies but they let us come back up again for free!!We had an awesome time and the sun cleared turning out to be a gorgeous day..We had lunch and it was fab.A must!!!
A great experience especially if you are looking to ski! We went over two days and so glad we did. Two downsides are the express bus which has long wait times and the overnight storage which meant our gear was not available for the twilight session the next day even though we handed it in and the staff advised it would be available. Still, those are very minor as the overall experience was wonderful
Fantastic location with great views, services and coffee to relax. Looks like the mountain bikers were having a good time an impressive to watch those experienced and under instructors guidance
I’ve been coming here to ski for the last few years. This ski hill is only 30 minutes away from Queenstown & snow quality Dry snow is possibly the best one in NZ. The runs are quite varied & diverse. It’s more suited for intermediate or advanced skiers.
I went to the Coroner Peak on Tuesday, the snow quality was good and the cafe staffs are friendly and most of all, the pork belly burger with Kimchi was amazing also don’t forget to visit Hurdi’s Hut next to the T bar lift. You can seat outside and soaking the sunshine with cup of coffee or Hot chocolate
Awesome ski field, great fun, plenty of variety in the runs, great lifts. However don't hire your gear up on the mountain, not good quality gear, worn boots, blunt skis and broken helmet.
Scenic snow area, good variety of tracks, but a lot of things could be better. 1. The top car park is quite small. Other car parks are below the base AND you have to walk up the road with your gear. Enjoy climbing stairs just to get to the ski lifts. 2. Navigation in the resort is challenging. It’s challenging to to know which trail you’re on. It’s even more challenging when visibility is limited due to the weather. More often than not you have to solve navigational puzzles instead of enjoying the snow. Are you on Summer road or on Eighth basin? Trails have fancy names, but don’t have numbers. Trails are not marked with poles so it’s on you to remember the last sign you passed. Instead of marking trails in a way that is weather-proof they do this see the photo. Yes, that useless sign is in the middle of a trail. It’s a shame that the resort management ignores people struggling with navigation, but introduces a premium ski pass to hit the snow earlier than general population. 3. Sometimes a red or a black trail is a regular trail that hasn’t been ratracked. You don’t know which trails have been prepared and which have not. It’s a shame you have to figure it out yourself.
Views from here are great even during summer. Would recommended regardless of the season. Could only imagine what it would be like in winter.
