Copthorne Hotel & Resort Solway Park Wairarapa

It's showing it's age a bit on the outside, however, my room was immaculate, well appointed and not at all dated. When the kettle stopped working it was replaced immediately. Staff were friendly and it was very convenient being able to park my car just outside the room. I would definitely use them again.

Wasn't too bad but the hygiene in the rooms is debatable especially the black mould in the bathroom. Service in the dining room was slow. My meal was cold on arrival and the somewhat expensive steak was as tough as old boots.nPlease note, I am not after perfection as manager response suggests. I am simply after a reasonable standard. The food and hygiene issues are bad enough for me to notice.... black mould is toxic, reheated but cold food is a bacteria breeding ground and $42.00 steaks that could break teeth are not ideal.

We had an amazing stay over Christmas the staff were friendly and welcoming. They went above and beyond even having a lolly hunt for the kids on Christmas Day which was very thoughtful. The rooms are a bit tired but we still had a great time hopefully a soft refurb would be nice in the future . Christmas buffet was yummy. The kids had a ball , swimming, playing on the tramp and playground. All in all a fantastic stay again and we will continue to come back . Thanks again.

Large good value hotel with restaurant and bar. Rooms are ok- the bathroom shower screens could do with some scrubbing as there was would around the edges. A few paint scratches here and there in the rooms too. Small gym and large pool. There is a hot tub but the two times I have been it has been out of order which is annoying as I was looking forwards to it. Outdoor pool and trampoline- only suitable in summer though. Volleyball net in sand and a tennis court out front. Heaps of parking - you can park right outside of your room too which is handy. Food is nice in the restaurant but slow service in bar- you have to dung the bell to get served. Great value for money and good for families. Handy location- is near to Masterton town and not far from greytown and martinborough!

Sad to say the Copthorne has seen better daysnDespite prompt service and adequate premises, I've seen rest homes with better carpet, better-functioning showers and paper not peeling off walls.nSorry Masterton, it was an otherwise wonderful experience
