Copthorne Hotel & Resort Solway Park Wairarapa

staff was pretty rude, only had one nice person and that was at the time of check in, nothing on the TV works or is logged in, so theyre pretty useless. it's those cheapy smart TVs though so they never are these days. its either half the staff was sick/on holiday or they're seriously understaffed because things took a while, and there was no cot even though I requested one, which I didn't mind but if you need a cot make sure to call ahead and double check.

After a couple of nights in a rather grotty motel, we chose to extend our stay in Masterton and spend a night at the Copthorne. My God, are we glad we did!nnThe rooms were clean, beds comfortable, they provided a lovely portacot for our toddler and we had a lovely swim in the indoor pool. We had delicious room service and ample space to park our car...next time we visit Masterton we aren't going to bother shopping around... we'll just book at the Copthorne!

Needed a quiet weekend in a spacious room all to myself. This hotel is dated but is more than adequate and as far as I am aware there isn't another large hotel with the facilities that the Solway has. I indulged in room service for dinner - the food and tray were well presented, with cloth serviette, cutlery etc. I really enjoyed the two courses I had. The next day I indulged in a wine and lunch in the bar area, also very pleasant. Great to sit in the spa pool too. Quite a quiet room on the carpark side of the building - didn't hear vehicles at all during the night. Would go back. Maybe some hand lotion in the bathroom tho please........thanks

The entire complex was booked out for the Mini Nationals and it seemed the Restaurant/Bar was understaffed especially on the Friday evening with so many guests. Pizzas were returned multiple times as frozen on serving or cold/luke warm.Cooked breakfast had a great variety but the likes of bacon,etc was only warm and could have been hotter. The surrounding roading & driveways are full of potholes and rather rough. The rooms are on the whole clean but a little dated with some R&M required on doors and windows. Overall not value for money.

We liked the room size as we paid and booked for the bigger room. Room was clean and bed was comfortable.nnHOWEVERnWe went to use the pool but it was a small one and always so full that we didn't even get in and the spa is just one small one which could only fit a few people and that was is also full all the time. It's not the best place to take a weekend getaway if you want to relax in pool and spa.nnThe breakfast was a disappointment. Played $75.00, and not even proper coffee was included. The scramble egg smelled like it was made out of rotten egg.nQuite disappointing.
