Copthorne Hotel Greymouth

Which state at this hotel for two nights during a business trip hotel is located centrally. It seems that hotel has been recently renovated or refurbished therefore rooms that we stayed in we're almost brand new. From outside hotel looks like an industrial building of 70s but from inside it is very nice and modern stuff was also very nice because when we checked in there was a large group of tourists therefore checking in at the same time therefore staff accommodated are separately.nRooms had everything that is expected from a hotel we had two rooms and view from both windows was quite nice you could open the windows as well and there was a small balcony that one could walk out on. Bathrooms we're also nice and toiletries we're also of good qualities. I always look at the plumbing of hotel bathrooms and in this case I must say that plumbing was excellent and hot water and cold water was readily available.nnQuality of a mattress a linen was excellent however the iron had some residue from the previous ironing unfortunately most hotels have this problem. But also had electric blanket that could be switched on however it was not that cool so I did not use it.nnI really like their initiatives that if a room is not cleaned then they will contribute some funds to animal welfare and conservation which I felt was much better than what most hotels 10 to request that it will save environment if the room is not cleaned I really like this initiative and I am also attaching a photograph that describes their initiative and excellent initiative that other hotels should learn from.nnRooms are very quiet and there was no noise during the night.

This hotel is nice and near to major supermarkets and shopping centers. The receptionist in the evening is nice and welcoming. Rooms are nice tidied. It will be a good place to just sleep and go for night. It had nice samsung TV placed in the room to watch, but settings are blocked. You can only connect with mirroring. We can feel the smell of carpet a bit odd, like no ventilation, when you walk from the lift to the room. No microwave to warm the milk or food in case you want to have your own. The shower had no exhaust fan, no hot rail for towel, only shower gel and shampoo. No air-conditioned, only wall heater which settings are really hard to understand and somereason I can hear from it some knocking sound all the time in same rythem in the night and we switched off after an hour. Looks like they have a heat blanket, which we didn't use. I believe there are better places nearby with that price and a bit more facilities. Hotel in the downstairs is closed on Sunday, and I'm not sure if they do any other day for giving rest for the staff, I believe. My main disappointment is not being able to warm heat my food and milk. Don't want to walk around in the night. Otherwise, I could do the rating to 4 stars at least.

My wife and I went to Greymouth and stayed in Copthorne. The hotel itself is a bit run down and needs repair. However I want to concentrate on the service and the hospitality from the staff. Rarely do you find such helpful and friendly staff, who go out of their way to help their guests. We arrived there on Christmas day and had to check out really early on Boxing Day '23. Given both days were public holidays, the kitchen was not supposed to open until late and everything around was closed. However the receptionist called the chef and organized them to start early just for us so that we could have an early hot breakfast. The location of the hotel is decent enough and some rooms, like ours, had a view of the mouth of the river.nWe will go back again just for the friendliness and hospitality of the staff.

The room was way better than I expected given other reviews. I think it must have been renovated relatively recently. The staff was very nice. The restaurant in the lobby is surprisingly great.

Overpriced and average facilities.nI've been lucky enough to have stayed in many hotels over the years. This hotel is dated, disappointing and lacks some of the basics. The conspicuous absence of photos of the outside of the hotel reflects how awful it looks from the street. The rooms are nicer but there is no air conditioning, just a pedestal fan and a panel heater. If you want to make real coffee you are out of luck as only basic instant cofffee and tea making facilities are provided. No stocked minibar or snacks. The minimum toiletries of only shampoo and conditioner. The place feels more like a roadside motel than a hotel that is part of an international chain. A Nepresso machine, a basic local snack selection, a non-alcoholic minibar, and the usual hotel toiletries would be quick and easy ways to improve the customer experience. Air conditioning would be a signifcant improvement. And some bedside lamps wouldn't hurt either.nOn the plus side the location is good, and the TV and internet 400-500 Mbps are great.nTo be fair I wasn't expecting a 5 star luxury hotel, but for $260 a night, with no included breakfast, the whole experience was a total disappointment. I would NOT recommend The Copthorne Greymouth as a place to stay unless they make some basic improvements.
