Lovely design of the cafe and it is inviting surrounded by the mitre10 garden. However the service was just unbothered. When going to a cafe the baristas and customer services is always top notch! But here was not pleasant and cabinet food is way too dry. Coffee is bitter, asked for sugar and was told there’s sugar on the table.
I had low expectations coming here based on past experiences at similar cafes attached to hardware stores, however this place is different!nnStaff are super friendly shout out to Faith and service was great. Food options were good and enjoyed the chicken burger with chips.
I have been to this place three or four times now to give it a chance to redeem itself. It honestly sucks so bad. They have gotten my order wrong or just not given me cabinet food items every single time. Some of the staff are lovely but the younger ones seem quite rude and are clearly not bothered about service. Have gotten sandwiches with different meats without telling me, forgotten drinks, wrong drinks, all while tables for 50% full or less. Last time pictured I had to remind them twice for a scone that I eventually got 45 minutes later, looked like this without me touching it.
It's a Columbus, it operates to their formula. Unfortunately standards seem to be dropping lately both in range of menu options and in the quality and value for money. $27 for 2 poached eggs with a couple of slices of Norwegian smoked salmon on a couple of potato rostis is too dear.nThree months ago this was excellent so hopefully it will come up to scratch again. Counter food is not as extensive either, used to be a nice pie here. They've disappeared too.nSpecify exactly how you want your coffee!
It was good when first opened but has deteriorated in food quality. Couldn't understand new woman at counter. Nachos were too big filled bowl with tiny topping of what was supposed to be mince, beans and cheese which amounted to about one tablespoon of dog vomit. So dry and unpalatable as wel as daylight robbery. Swapped it for an omelette which was very dry. Sack your cook and hire a chef. Belgian Waffles are made with cheap jam not real compote. Just a sickly sticky mess. Won't be back
