Arguably, nothing beats a cloudless, wind-free day in Christchurch—unless that morning is spent on the Christchurch Golf Club course!nThe last time I played here was over 15 years ago, and back then, I rated it as Christchurch’s best. Today, after a complete redesign by Brett Thomson and Phil Tataurangi, the course is almost unrecognisable. That said, if you’ve played their other courses, like Tieke and Windross, there’s a familiar feel to the experience.nOff the blue tees, the undulating fairways, well-positioned bunkers, and multi-tiered greens present a significant challenge. Drives are easy to find the well-manicured fairways, but the real test lies in the approach shots—greens are well-guarded by links-style bunkers and tricky run-off areas. Fortunately, the rough isn’t overly punishing, encouraging aggressive play and creating more opportunities to attack the pin. The greens themselves are superb, with plenty of intriguing pin positions that demand precision.nChristchurch Golf Club is a strategic, rewarding course that will test any golfer’s mettle. If you’re in the Garden City, it’s a must-play.
Seriously this must be one of the best presented courses in NZ.nThe members here should appreciate how superb the tee boxes are, the fairways like carpet and the greens tough, but very true and in immaculate condition.nNo wind when we played, lots of green keepers out so a little slow.nThe food selection in the cafe or bar is excellent, something g for everyone. Have a look at the museum upstairs. A bit of a hidden treasure.nDefinitely one of the best presented courses around.
Went here November 2022. The course is probably one of Christchurchs best golf courses. Well maintained greens and very nice layout. Had a great hike around here and definitely did about 11 km all up with the day - lots 9f hiking. They have great facilities and could hire a left handed serlt, which was a very good quality one. Would be one of my more favourite courses in Canterbury. Friendly staff and very helpful to new people. Would recommend this course.
I was the celebrant for a funeral service at the Christchurch club. The staff were friendly, the food excellent and the venue was perfect. Amazing views of the manicured course from the venue.
Lovely 19th but tough day with cold rain on the first day in December but a very small discount for the course rearrangement
