China Cultural Centre in Wellington

The China Cultural Centre in Wellington is a cultural institution in New Zealand managed by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China. On October 19, 2015 in the capital city Wellington, it was registered as a non-profit organization (NGO), and on December 11 was officially announced to the public. As the 24th cultural centre established by the Chinese Department of Culture, it is intended to strengthen China-New Zealand cultural exchanges and cooperation, and increase mutual understanding and friendliness between the two peoples.
The centre is located in the Wellington CBD, occupying 669 square metres of land, and with a total of around 1500 square metres of space across three floors. The centre will have a library of bilingual books which keeps up to date with the Chinese mainland publishing industry, allowing the public to enjoy a comprehensive collection on Chinese history, culture, development and contemporary social life. In addition, the centre will set up a painting exhibition hall, a dance classroom, martial arts classes, Chinese opera theatre and more. A complete set of facilities and functions will promote the development of many cultural activities.
By the time that the centre is normalized, there will be a continuous organizing of performances, exhibitions, art festivals, quizzes, and other such cultural activities. The centre will also organize many different kinds of on-going and short-term training programs for things such as language, culture, arts and fitness. There will also be academic discussion groups for various fields and professional networking events.
