We ate here as we were staying at Mt Cook lodge.nFood is ok, pizza is nice but the squid rings were hard. It's a nice atmosphere.nnI think the fish n chips is the winner, we got take away on our last night.
Restaurant Review: Stunning Views, Great FoodnnThis restaurant offers amazing mountain views and a relaxed, self-serve atmosphere. You find your own table, order at the counter, and pick up your food when it’s ready—quick and easy.nnThe menu has a nice range of options, and the food is delicious. A great choice for a casual meal with an impressive selection of drinks and a beautiful backdrop!
One of the most economical and delicious restaurants at Mount Cook also supports Alipay and WeChat Pay,which makes it extremely convenient. The restaurant offers plenty of seating, and the view outside the window is stunning. The staff are very enthusiastic and professional. It’s definitely worth recommending.
I don’t normally give bad reviews but sadly the food let this lovely place down I realize they must rely on frozen food considering where we are but when the coleslaw is the best thing you ate out of soggy calamari, cremated chicken wing and fish and chips where you had to send in a search party to find the fish in amongst the batter sorry it wasn’t good. The funniest part was when I order a three layered shot that is supposed to come out looking like a rainbow however the server threw it all in a mixing cup instead of the shot glass it came out like a colorful glass of sperm we both laughed when I told her how it might better be done politely. Sorry Chamois can’t rate you well I did however spot a nice rabbit outside. Great views btw!
A lot of people here writing negative reviews are quick to judge the place without taking the whole picture into perspective. Mount Cook village is a remote area with only 3-4 restaurants, Chamois being the only pub/ bar open till late.nnWe came here twice in 2 days because the service and food was great on the first night, leading us to return on the second night. Whilst the food was slightly pricey as expected due to remote location/ closest supermarket 60km away, it was extremely wholesome and generous.nnIt’s not fancy or fine dining go to the Panorama Room at Hotel Hermitage if you’re after this a vibe, but for a pub feed, it was delicious.nnShout out to the lovely bartender/manager ? with glasses who was so warm and welcoming, as well as incredibly informative about the local spirits. I would have typically given this place 4 stars however it doesn’t deserve the bad reviews it’s gotten and I hope that this fairly improves the average.
