We recently celebrated my 9-year-old’s birthday at the Cat Café in Devonport, and it was our first time celebrating a party in such a unique place. Honestly, the experience was amazing from start to finish. The vibe of the café was calm, cozy, and absolutely perfect for a cat-loving child. The service was fabulous—I didn’t have to do anything myself, which made the whole experience stress-free and enjoyable.nnA special mention to the organiser, Rola, who was truly the highlight of the event. She managed everything seamlessly, from the booking to making sure the celebration ran smoothly on the day. The decorations were beautiful and pleasing, and the cats were so well-behaved, cuddly, and gentle with the kids.nnIt was a memorable and joyful celebration, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this place for a unique and well-organised kids’ party.
Amazing cat cafe, the cats are really friendly and will want to sit on your lap. Lovely staff member as well :
Want to go to a cute nice and wholesome cat Cafe? DO NOT GO HERE. the poor cats here are neglected, they have two litter trays for 20 plus cats, two food bowls they fight over, not enough water, and nowhere to hide if they want to get away from people or each other. These cats are claimed to be rescued but they aren't, the owner admitted she got cats off breeders when I enquired about adopting one to try and save it and take it to an emergency vet. All the cats have cat flu, multiple have bad cases and I was highly concerned for them. Apparently there are also cats out back that aren't on the floor because theyre in a condition so bad that theyre dying. The owners partner is a vet who doesn't work in nz, so she refuses to take them to any sort of medical facilities around. To put it bluntly, she's an abuser to these poor animals, a truly horrible person trying to sell off these cats for extreme prices because theyre purebred. It disgusted me how dismissive she was about their health and the concerns raised. I have never felt so angry at someone for their clear lack of care and respect for basic animal needs.nReport this place to the spca, none emergency police line, and literally anywhere else that might be able to shut this business down because it's truly disgusting and she should never be allowed animals again.
Lots of cute and interesting cats to pet and cuddle!nnKids love them.nnLots of parking off road.nnMake sure you book in advance.nnNo food, just basic coffee.nnIf you are a cat lover this place is a must visit!nnPlus a pet shop next door to purchase cat goods.
Intial impression was very positive. Parking was easy to find. We met with the receptionist, picked our cat treats & drinks, and headed upstairs.nnThere was a group of 5 already present, but there was enough room for our group of 3 to settle in easily. The cats were adorable, well-behaved, and appeared healthy. Our drinks took a while to arrive, but were delicious.nnHowever, another group of 5 soon arrived. At this point, things were getting a bit cramped, but not absurdly so... Until another group arrived. And another.nnIn total, we counted 24 people shoved into 2 connected rooms, with the majority of cats & people in one room. Some cats were visibly stressed, and I noticed both kittens hissing & swiping at other cats on separate occasions. As a cat owner myself, it did not seem like the kittens were being playful.nnDespite half the people present being children or teenagers, no staff members were present to make sure everyone was following the rather simple rules. It seemed there was only one staff member, who was responsible for everything, and seemed to have a lot to manage.nnI have been to another cat cafe prior, which was a much bigger place with less customers, more staff, and more space for the cats to escape to, so I was very disappointed by this experience. I will not be returning.
