A light and airy space, this is a lovely place for a coffee or light lunch. The date scone is amazing. The coffee and tea fine.
I am severe Ceoliac and the chef chose to come out and explain their process to avoid x-contam himself. I chose the Buddha Bowl and as they served it the chef came out and quickly took it away as they had put a soy dressing on it that had some gluten. They re-made it immediately and the end result was delicious and the food that passed our table looked amazing . Lovely outdoor area and lots of space inside. Fantastic Cafe, Manager, Chef and Staff. Popular with the locals we spoke to in the Cafe which is always a good sign. Love love loved the food.
We stopped at Cafe Medici for lunch in between our visits to two local wineries. It was October, and too rainy to sit outside, but we had a lovely table by the window. My husband had the club sandwich and I had the salt and pepper squid with Asian slaw. The squid was absolutely perfect. If I lived in Martinborough I would be eating that for lunch on a regular basis.
We arrived at peak time the place was pumping and staff rushed off their feet being amazing! We were told food wait was about 45 minutes - fine by us. Exactly 45 minutes later food arrived. Very yummy. At all times staff were attentive, polite and informative.
I have had several meals at this cafe and 2 of them were excellent.nI love the slow cooked beef cheek hash, simply delicious.nThe big breakfast wasn’t as good. I would have preferred a locally sourced sausage and the eggs were over cooked.nThe service was excellent, especially the man in charge of the front of house.nMy go to place when we travel to the North Island and Martinborough.
