Originally the General Store & Post Office Est 1866, now a refurbished cafe' on State Highway 4 Upokongaro, 10 mins north of Whanganui.

Story

Serving all day breakfast and lunch menu. Housemade Pies, Sandwiches Cakes and Slices and great Ozone roasted Coffee for dine in or takeaway. WIFi is also available.

This is definitely the place that you want to stop in a grab a bite to eat and satisfie ones thirst. Stopped in here for brunch and got the meanest "Eggs Benedict", it was devine. Gorgeous place and makes a choice coffee! I had the lemon loaf/slice I can’t remember what they called it which was nice! My mate got the savoury scone which looked and smelt delicious! The coffee came with a mini Whittaker’s choccy too which I thought was elite will be back for a proper Kai sometime
Absolutely fabulous. A must stop off on your travels for a warm welcome & outstanding food.
Love going here food experience great had a large date scone filled with dates and a flat white coffee with no froth. Coffee made just as we asked. Outside seating beautiful bush. You can even hand feed the Sparrows. Portions of food are very big. Great value for money. Vegetarian options: Available Kid-friendliness: Children welcome Parking: Parking outside building limited an in the general area also. It is very popular and parking can be an issue.
Best place to unwind and reconnect with nature. Food was amazing aswell as the service.Food: 5/5
We chartered the paddle steamer Waimarie my birthday and arranged for Behind the door on 4 cafe to make two cakes. One cake was chocolate and the other one was carrot cake. They were both delicious. The staff at the Cafe were wonderful. The outside area was lovely and shaded, it was just what we needed on a hot day. I highly recommend behind the door on 4 Cafe.

A very lovely cafe for a stop over . Great scones and coffees. I had a cheese scone and a vanilla latte! The best morning tea I had in ages! Will definitely come back for another food and coffee trip!Food: 5/5
Seating is available inside as well as outdoor. Good ambiance. Enjoyed the food,nicely served, pleasant staff. I'd go again. A little distance to travel but nice drive out there.Food: 5/5
