This was the first of many vineyards we experienced. So glad we came here. Wonderful view as we walked down the steps and into the restaurant. Great expansive water views through the large windows. Lunch was beautiful and the selection of wine just devine. The staff were so attentive and helpful with the wine selection. There was also a wine tasting opportunity in the back room which we enjoyed. Great ambience and would come back again.
It had been a while. 7 years since our last visit. Still, a spectacular view & the food is even better. Light lunch but the octopus and steak Tatar were some of the best we have eaten. Truly folks do not hesitate to try either or better both. The octopus flavor is boosted but not overpowered by the sauce and celeriac salad. The Tatar with crisp onion is perfect. We went with a simple 4 cheese pizza but again simple but nailed it. Wines were the perfect accompaniment. We have travelled to about 80 countries. Many times to regions that would call these dishes local. Rarely do they hit the flavor marks of what we had today. Well done team.
Cable Bay Vineyard in Waiheke, NZ, is a true gem! My wife, friends, and I recently dined there, and it was an unforgettable experience. The ambiance was simply stunning, with breathtaking views of the vineyard and the ocean. The food was exceptional, with each dish showcasing the finest local ingredients and expert culinary skill. The wine selection was outstanding, perfectly complementing our meal. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing our dining experience. Cable Bay Vineyard is a must-visit for anyone looking for an exquisite dining experience on Waiheke Island.
Was a bit unsure about the reviews but after reading them most were about wine tours. We just needed a dinner service though. Happy with meals and quiet on Sunday so service was fast and food hot. We could choose to sit anywhere. Turns out the menu is different for outside seating vs inside seating which is kinda weird. We waited to be seated and no one arrived after a few min so we ended up walking in to find someone to seat us. Food was fine would buy it again.
I visited on 22nd Feb and enjoyed the view. However, I was disappointed with the service. Despite the menu listing a mojito at $16, I was charged $24 without explanation. When questioned, the staff were dismissive and unhelpful. Even after explaining that the menu clearly stated otherwise, the staff member refused to engage further and did not bother to verify the menu. Another member of my party also remembered the menu price is $16. This inconsistency left a negative impression. It’s possible that either the menu had outdated pricing or there was an error in charging, but regardless, the discrepancy was disappointing. Great view, but service needs improvement.
We had an amazing experience at Cable Bay Vineyard. A big shout out to Aparna who walked us through the tasting and introduced us to the best parfait in the world! Views were incredible and venue just beautiful! Def coming back
What a brilliant experience wine tasting at Cable Bay Vineyards! Thank you Aparna for your expert knowledge of the wine and your passion was infectious! The pairing of the wine with the mini desserts was to die for! Loved the private tour organised by Grant down to the wine cellar. An unforgettable experience and highly recommend putting this vineyard on your bucket list.
Unlike other vineyards on Waiheke - this one doesn't feel welcoming, leaning more to pretentious, magniloquent. Lovely views across the bay, a pretty entry, a private deep wine library and the meanest pour for tasting.
A great experience with good customer service, incredible food and wine choices and atmosphere with a stunning view Do beware, it gets a little hot and stuffy especially when they start cooking the mains but they were glad enough to open the windows for us
The wine tasting area feels like a complete afterthought and was messy when we arrived and all the tables were dirty. There was only one attendant who seemed a bit rushed or overwhelmed. The view from the tiny balcony is of a noisy refrigerated container, gas bottles and trash. The Sauvignon blanc was fair. We walked around and noted that the one restaurant area has an open concept kitchen that overlooks the entire bay. It makes no sense to me that the cooks have a beautiful location to practice their craft, yet patrons who want to sample and purchase wine are sent to the back of the building with sweeping views of the loading dock.
