BBQ king

One of the best place in the CBD for Chinese food. The owners are really friendly and you get a bowl of soup and Chinese tea as soon as you sit down. My favorites are the roast duck and roast pork with rice. Another gem is the roast duck laksa noodle photo below which is to die for and possibly the only restaurant in NZ to offer this combination! And speaking as a Malaysian living in NZ, that laksa broth is authentic! Highly recommended.

WOW free Soup & Tea what a bonus, we ordered 3 different meats Roast Chicken & Duck, and BBQ Pork on rice shared, it was more than enough. Located just off Queen Street. Decor was ok with a few adjustments, but the hospitality was very welcoming & warm, I would definitely dine here again solo or with a friend.

Really good Chinese food, I ordered the 3 combination and all the meat were really delicious. Worth trying out if you haven’t before.

5 stars. This place is a dying breed of old Cantonese cuisine. Great tasting food, wok hei, and the servings sizes are generous. Rare to see this in a capital cities CBD. As a Cantonese that eats Cantonese food daily - this place is legit and great. Must try!

A nice Chinese restaurant close to our hotel. The restaurant has open clean see through kitchen. They specialize in Chinese bbq. The price was very reasonable and the meal come with free hot tea and soup. I saw the laksa on the menu and had to try it. I had the roast duck laksa. They gave like almost half a duck in the laksa. The duck was juicy, savory and flavorful. My brother had the 3 meat bbq plate with rice. The pork was savory. The charsui with just the right amount of sweetness. If you are in this part of the world make sure to stop by and try this place.

I had been craving prawn wonton soup for ages and saw a good review on the Lazy Susan FB page for BBK King Restaurant. Was really disappointed with the dish overall . You only get 6 wontons and it's sitting in an unflavorful broth that tastes like water not even stock. I had to add a bunch ofnsoy sauce, salt, sweet sauce , chilli etc to get any flavour in there. The wontons themselves are YUM though. They have a big chunk of prawn inside each one which is nice. The lady serving was also really lovely and dining in comes with a soup to start this had way more flavour than the wonton soup! Don't know why they don't use this as the base instead and hot tea which is really nice. Price was pretty steep for what you get and I ended up eating just the wontons, a little bit of noodles and leaving a mostly full bowl behind. Wouldn't come back here again.

Reminds me of my mum's cooking from years ago. Steamed chicken and mushroon , and a bowl of soup. Worth my trip from Welly!! Staff are nice, the lady recognized me from day before!!

This place has such an extensive menu and everything looks so yummy. Price is reasonable as well. I had their 2 meat combo with BBQ pork and duck. Paired perfectly with their home made plum sauce. Will definitely be going back to try some more dishes. I also did a takeaway of just plain BBQ pork meat cause it was so good.

Really awesome food, excellent service and great value for money. If you are after a flashy place this is not for you, if you are interested in great tasting food, support an honest hard working NZ business that produce quality then this is your place.
