The front wheel grew light, the rear wheel protested, and the road seemed to curve upward like a scene from a dream where physics has quietly resigned.nnI dismounted and pushed, joining other pilgrims engaged in their own acts of endurance. Step by step, metre by metre, we climbed — a procession of hopefuls seeking summit, redemption, or at least a decent photo.nAt the top, the view downward was less scenic overlook and more existential drop.nn The Descent:nnI mounted the bike and pointed it downhill.nnAcceleration was immediate and enthusiastic.
