Established in 2003, Auckland International College is a NZ independent day and boarding school of approximately 380 students, which offers a 3-year senior secondary school education.
AIC is the only NZ school where all students study the International Baccalaureate Diploma and it has the largest number of IB Diploma students in New Zealand.
Year 11 students study the Preparation Year Programme for IB Diploma which includes SAT preparation, while Year 12 and 13 students study the IB Diploma itself.
AIC employs high caliber teachers, IB trained, and with experience of international education. Specialist staff include university counsellors with expertise and experience in student admissions to top universities around the world, including the UK, US, Canada, Australia, as well as New Zealand. AIC is also an admissions testing centre for US and UK universities.
AIC has a proven track record of academic achievement. IB Diploma scores are consistently well above the international average in pass rate, median and in top grades.Three students scored a perfect score of 45 points out of 45 in their 2010 IB Diploma examinations. This is an exceptional result compared with the IBO average of only one student in 500 globally achieving a perfect score.
AIC graduates have received offers from 85% of the top 20 universities (THES: 2010 /11 World Rankings) Several graduates have been recipients of university scholarships, not only to universities such as the University of Auckland, but also to universities such as Harvard, Stanford, Columbia, Princeton and Cambridge
