Alma Motel Oamaru

Friendly relaxed hosts, huge spacious and well equipped rooms. We had a mishap on our room and they were super generous and understanding l. Perfect location if you have a car just minutes away from Oamaru. Incredible value for money.Rooms: 5/5

Owner was rude, unwelcoming and even complained about doing daily room service even though it is offered and included in the price. Units are outdated, minimal and basic with old appliances and impractical facilities. Such as a toilet is crammed into the front entrance of one of the units with the door barely closing making you feel claustrophobic, bathrooms are carpeted, and one unit has a "bedroom" shoved behind a bathroom so you have to go through the bathroom to get in and out. Someone said this motel was merely a "pass through for truckies and travellers" and that was the vibe we got from the stay.

We stayed in the cottage, it was very cute with beds enough to sleep 5, has its own car porch and equipped with a full kitchen. The host was very friendly and offered advice on when to view the blue penguins.Rooms: 5/5

Great wee place to stay!! Affordable as we had to travel last minute and didnt have much in the way of budget. Lovely gentlemen checked us in, was very nice! Room was what we needed after 5.5hrs on the road. Only let down was the only sink in the room was in the bathroom next to the toilet. But other then that it was great. Warm, cozy and comfy! We will be back.

Perfect for an overnight stopover on the way to Dunedin as it’s a few minutes out of town. Great basic facilities and was good for our family. Kids loved electric blankets, decent size tv & hot chocolate sachets were great!! Very clean and tidy. Everything you needed. Rooms: Basic but clean and partly modernised. Walkability: Our of town so unless you want to check out the rural outcrop you’ll be walking a while…

Exceptional service, friendly, thoughtful staff, they put the heater on in our room before we arrived so it was toasty and warm. The unit was lovely and clean, comfortable beds everything we needed for a great stay, highly recommend.Rooms: 5/5

Clean, tidy, affordable, warm. What more could you ask for when stopping in for a night of rest to break up a long trip! Yes the furniture is slightly dated but it's what makes it comfortable. Everything works well and is in good condition, Its a sweet humble wee place, homey and comfortable. Breakfast is a bloody great deal too tbh! We fed a family of 5 with two adult breakfasts, brilliant! We have stayed one night twice in the last week and a half and it was great for our wee family of 5. The gentleman who runs the motel is just lovely. Our kids really liked him too Thank you guys so much for accommodating us we will be back again! All the best for the year ahead, The Halls.
