This place was such a disappointment! We checked in mid day. A young woman who was also the person scooping the ice cream inside the reception/ice cream shop office barely welcomed us. We were handed a key and told to go around the corner and look for number 12. After 20 minutes of not finding our room in a place we had never been to, we returned to her and asked for an escort. Our room was over a restaurant. Noisy until 10 pm. There is no hotel parking. There are no amenities - not even soap. This room was not inexpensive. The only thing you are paying for here is the view! You will get nothing else. And the view is everywhere. All you have to do is walk outside. I implore you to look elsewhere. Terrible experience.
Room was very small and balcony very small. There is no service if you stay for 3 night, the bed is even made. All part of conservation apparently! Location is very central either good views.
Pretty good Darren moved us to one of the front upper floor app, fab viewnAll in all great WIFI but up and downnBut we did manage to watch LOTR on a wet night
Location was the only thing going for this accommodation. Was very old, noisy and small with no decent curtains in one of the bedrooms. We may have been unlucky with the specific room we got, given other reviews, but we will not return here. Staff also seemed very disinterested in being there.
Nice reception from the manager. On arrival l was given a small jar of milk, which was good for a cuppa.nInitially the rooms impacted as spacious, tidy, clean, and well presented Lovely lourved doors/windows, easy to operate.nBed was very comfortable and warm with more than enough blankets.nHowever, looking closer we saw tired and damaged paintwork, which could do with touchups or even a repaint.nThere has been no lighting in the lounge area except for a side lamp. We approached management twice without it being successfully resolved, it may be an ongoing issue.nThe outside patio needed TLC.nThe towels were so thin I could see through one of them. That may have been an oversight on the house keeping side, because the second lot were much better quality.nWe do congratulate on the handy location to all amenties.nAll in all we loved Akaroa.
