We were travelling as a group of 4 Canadians and Anne was an exceptional host. We arrived while the cyclone was hitting the area and Anne was able to guide us with things to do and places to eat as our arranged tours were cancelled. Anne cooked us delicious breakfasts every morning and we were very comfortable relaxing in front of the fireplace. As a tour guide herself she was full of information on sites to see while touring New Zealand. We highly recommend staying at the Lonely Bay with Anne!
A great location. Next to the beach, a very quick drive to the ferry, access to a very nice walk. Very quick drive to the shuttle/walk to cathedral cove. The lodge itself is lovely. Anne was very responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend.
Lovely accommodations clean, spacious, elegant and perfect location. The host was also extremely welcoming and helpful. The nearby beach less than 10 min walk is beautiful and less crowded than other beaches nearby— this lodge is in a relatively quiet area, but nearby to larger towns with many restaurants. It’s very easy to get to Whitianga by ferry running continuously or to Haihei by driving. Many thanks!
Our family of four stayed four marvelous nights at 970 Lonely Bay Lodge at the end of 2022 and it was our favorite lodge of the three weeks we spent in New Zealand. Anne was our host and she did everything to perfection. Breakfast was spot-on every day and since we had four of the five rooms, we almost had the run of the place. Despite being somewhat the oddballs we hung around the house a lot more than most guests, I think Anne was able to roll with our idiosyncrasies. Though the Coromandel has a lot to offer, Lonely Bay was so nice we were happy to laze away in the comfort we found there. We also had the pleasure of meeting Jane, the owner, who is a treasure to converse with. Don't pass this one by.
Gorgeous B&B - close to the ferry and beautiful rooms. Breakfast was amazing as well! Highly recommend!
Stayed at the start of 2022 during Covid restrictions. As such, the manager wasn't on-site as she normally would be, there was zero housekeeping and no fan or air conditioning for the hot summer nights. The room was very roughly cleaned before our arrival. This would all have been somewhat ok had the owner not have charged full rates, because we didn't get the full service. Such as no housekeeping, no breakfast and so on. Overall, a very disappointing stay.
The property is absolutely beautiful, relaxing and luxurious. The host, Kym, is incredibly welcoming and warm, and made our time in New Zealand perfect.
This is a beautiful luxury lodge on the beach, we were served delicious meals and the hosts were so helpful and friendly! This is THE place to go for a decadent weekend in Coromandel!

Excellent accommodation, excellent location and excellent people. Much recommended - and make sure you have a an early walk on on the beach.
