18th Avenue Thermal Motel

Extremely poor experience with this motel & management - be cautious with booking particularly around busy periods.nnUpon arrival we were told our room had been double booked. This was in no way communicated prior to our arrival at 6pm.nnThe manager had no concerns about our ability to find another accommodation so late upon arrival… there was no sympathy from their error.nnDefinitely do not recommend.

Rooms are spacious and well laid out. Clean bedding and towels and super clean kitchen and bathroom. Some upgrades to curtains, TV, carpets. Great little kitchen, heated towel rail a bonus. Complex is tired and needs some attention needs to go on maintaining the units. Lots of painting and gardening will make a big difference. A pool refresh would also be an amazing addition.

Located in nice and quiet place. Rooms are quite cozy and comfortable. Kitchen has all the amenities. The problem I saw is the leakage under the kitchen and bathroom sinks. Staffs are very friendly. Hotel has its own natural thermal pool. Parking is just in-front of the unit. Nearby have big shopping complex for any type of shopping. Overall it was very nice and comfortable stay. Recommended.

Booked two nights here as a family member was in the hospital. I came back to my car one night and there was an Indian guy walking around my car very suspiciously looking in the windows. The same Indian guy walked into the motel where I was supposed to be staying. I went into my room and couldn’t even open a window for fresh air because you can’t have it slightly open without somebody being able to pull it open and climb in. There’s no real security locks. There’s also no Aircon. I felt incredibly unsafe and ended up driving to a friend house to stay the night. Do not recommend.

I chose this Motel due to it's location for a job I was doing in Tauranga. Talk about stepping back in time, the good things first , reasonably quiet, well that's the good things . Bad things, Shower water pressure almost zero haven't experienced that in a long time. No Heat Pump just a hidden away convection heater . Pillows just ghastly like trying to sleep on a lump of wood. The Tea/Coffee Mugs and glasses where clearly for children the tiniest I have encountered for a while. I paid $179.00 which to me is about $80.00 too much ....
