We've been here a few times and it's consistently great. We ordered the Idlley Sambhar, the Tandoori Platter and the Dal Makhani - it was all excellent but the Dal was the surprising highlight, deliciously creamy. Took home leftover tandoori, it's a big serving for two. Would definitely recommend this place and the staff are always lovely.
BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT SO FAR! Been to 29 States once with my husband and some friends, really enjoy the food. We had butter chicken, vindaloo, and the fish fillet grill. I LOVVVEEE the mango lasi too. The service is friendly. Will definitely come back and recommend 29 States to my friends!
Good location but food is not great. There's huge room for improvement and many of the dishes in the menu are not available as well. On my only visit, we we're served not fully cooked chicken for tandoori chicken but the chef had to test it and argue back that it seems cooked according to him.. Good business should aim at happy customers not happy chef
One of the worst places ever to go eat. They smell their food before serving it because they do not the concept of "use-by dates". Have known them very closely but cannot stand them making business at the cost of others being cheated. Not only that, they exploit their staff as well. Hygiene levels are zero. Request for a tour of the kitchen next time you're around. Don't believe me? Go visit and know for yourself.

We always love coming here . Had beef vindaloo and palak paneer it was excellent. Service was exceptional. We loved the onion rings as well
This place is honestly the most divine exquisite dinner set up in all of melbourne... quality all round, we come back time after time and it always gets better and better... butter chicken and garlic naan.. tikka etc gosh eat your heart out.
Saw.my briyani taken out of a freezer,.microwaved..been eating briyani all my life. i can tell that was made the day before..the meat was like rubber. Not going back to this.
"its a shame for the name of biryani" The worst food i ever had, biryani taste like tomato bath and they say it as Hyderabadi biryani, if they cant make biryani then why the hell they keep it in the menu.
I think the food is very good and it is reasonably priced with large servings.. A happy regular local customer.
