Zest is a great little coffee shop with a wide range of quality cakes and pastries, and a smaller range of savouries. Their organic, fair trade coffee is from the delicate and creamy Austrian end of the spectrum, rather than the "smack-in-the-face" Italian end, so if you want big flavour ask for an extra shot. The cakes are provided by Pastry Perfection, who supply hotels and restaurants in the city, so they are _outstanding_. Seriously. Have one of their little danishes with your double shot and tell me I'm wrong.
During the last few visits, we were met with sullen and grumpy staff and today was no different. Young teenage staff looked bored and made no eye contact during entire interaction while placing the order. We were told they were sold out of ham & cheese croissants which was strange so early at 9:30am. We ordered plain croissants instead which were stale and cold when served. In the display, there was only one of each type of pie: one steak and mushroom, one beef pie, one tandoori chicken pie. Being so early in the day, these must've been leftovers and no replenishment had been made recently. This store is a waste of space at Cherrybrook Village - it appears nothing is made fresh on-site and the menu is expensive. Even the products at nearby coffee chain and chocolate dessert shop were of better quality AND with friendlier staff to boot.
Coffee very good. Small cakes good. $8 lunch is good value including a drink, but hot meal options are limited. Small outdoor area where you can bring your dog, but it's pretty full on the weekends.
Ordered 2 coffees and a beef & pepper pie this morning. Before ordering I asked “are the pies hot?” To which the reply was “Yes”. What I received was a luke warm damp peppered spongy thing. Not great for a pie that cost over $5. Obviously microwaved, and not enough anyway. The coffee wasn’t great either.
It’s now a new business named Whistling Sparrow. Service and food are both great but prices are similar to an organic hipster joint in Surry Hills or Double Bay.
The raspberry coconut cake was a disappointment. It tastes like a super market cake with raspberry and pitacho toppings. Spoiled the occasion for us. It’s going in the bin.
Best place to get a coffee in cherrybrook. It's not the greatest but if your in need of a hit this is the place to go. Also has a wide range of sweet treats.
Great selection of cakes to order. Had one for my birthday and it was AMAZING! So good; highly recommend.
The best carrot cake ever! All the other carrot cakes I tried before were just rubbish.
Decent coffee, great cake selection, small menu of savories.
