I had the red emperor with chips, which was just great. Service was friendly and fast and the food arrived in time. The only thing I would liked to have had differently was the salad. Caesar salad looks and tastes great but failed to see the relevance to the meal itself, I would have preferred a plain Garden salad anytime. Prices were reasonable too. Will definitely go back next time I am at the Harbour.
Heard nice things about the place but was very disappointed. Went to celebrate a birthday and was not impressed. Food was very avarage and the bread was old. Most of our mussels weren't opened and still had sea water in them. Seafood was overcooked and was probably frozen. Service was good to start with but then we ordered some entree and we never got it. I'm afraid I'll never eat there again. Didn't give me the feeling that it was a clean place either. Way too overpriced as well.
We had a table outside, overlooking the harbour and watched a beautiful sunset. The food was great - the snapper was delicious with a nice light batter and the chips were crispy. Our meal was served quickly and the service was outstanding.
Haven't been back for over 12 months because of the poor service and high priced poor quality food. Was urged to try again last night to find they have delivered to their previous standard. Seated at the table and had to ask three wait persons for a menu. Undercooked garlic bread, under fried limp white snapper at a high price of $27 for fish and chips. Then no one comes near us for an hour, no one asks us if we would like another drink, coffee or dessert. So we left and bought an ice cream next door. Not coming back again especially when you can get superior service, food at a lower cost at The Carine, The Currumbine, The Saint and The Nookenburra and even the White Salt who also boast ocean views. My recommendation is to simply don't bother.
Alright- this one is a little hit or miss. I've eaten here quite a few times now and it can be fine or even good or plain terrible. Depends on the waiter. I've been served here what I didn't order, mischarged and disappointed. When it's good it is a pleasant experience. The owner should consider their recruitment practices. Perhaps even the way they treat their staff? Why is there such great turnaround of staff? It is not acceptable for waitress not to know the menu. Please pick up your game! You charge a little fortune - make it more pleasant experience. I agree with the review "you're better off going to cicerellos"
Went Sunday 5th Feb 2017 at around 1830. Walked right in without a booking and got a nice table straight away. As there were a few tables available I was given my own choice where to sit.We chose next to the fish tank. Immediately asked for a house wine and a lager while we studied the menue. Drinks served in good time. Wife had mild chillie muscles . They were perfect in every way. I asked for Snapper but requested swapping chips for the mash. Also served with salad. Nothing was too much trouble. Garlic bread was generous and prepared just right.Service excellent..Quality of food excellent. Snapper melted in my mouth. Price very reasonable indeed. Will go back on regular basis.
Friendly staff, beautiful fish tank, kids friendly and very educational. The coffee and cake special offer is super good. Unlike some businesses discount their quality when they offer so called "special", Zeno's special offer is genuine. Well done!
I wish there was like a negative or a avoid at all cost review label as this place needs it!!! Went there once with my cousin I am not local to the area and did not have my licence a year or two ago and found it fantastic - we were served quickly despite it being near full capacity, the food was to die for and the friendliness of the staff turned it into a really special night. Vowing to go back we raved about this place to family and friends until finally tonight we got to go again ... driving all the way to Hillary's just to get the same grilled fish to find it horrible. The staff were useless, didn't know the menu,sneered at you and the whole place was unorgainised - one girl in particular served her bottom rather than food which isn't something you want when like tonight there are children around for the kids menu. We still paid top price and got the same meal as last time and were warned of a half hour wait. 90 minutes later we got our meal unfortunately had to prepay so couldn't walk out and during that time 4 staff members had come to check on us and were politely told we were still waiting on our mains. The fish, grilled and juicy before was dry, crumbed and the bottom was soggy - like uncooked. It was also grey. Our steamed vegetables from last time had turned into spicy green beans we were not told they were spicy and chunks - yes chunks of onoin. The mash potato- which was advertised as exactly that on the menu turned out to be cheesy pasta bake in which I hate cheese. Also going from covered in sauce to none was just not good enough. The meal was served cold and when I went to the counter to ask for sauce I was made out to be an idiot. They expected us to use the same cutlery for the bread rolls, entree's and main meals which is disgusting. By the time our meal was served the staff were watching us from inside we had outside seats and poked their heads out to see if we were finished. They started to pack everything up around us and we felt as if we were being pressured into rushing. We were going to stay for desert which thank god we didn't prepay but were basically thrown out. For the amount they are charging it is ridiculous to have such rude staff and crappy food. After tonights ordeal we will not be returning and definitley recommend avoiding this place at all costs.
Simple looking cafe with good quality fresh seafood. Had the special of chilli mussels my partner found them a bit spicy after asking for medium, I liked them and I had the traditional calamari and chips which was lovely.
I don't understand how this place has any bad reviews....I've been here numerous times with my partner and it has never let us down. Spanish mackerel is next level and the seafood combo hits the spot everytime. Best place for a decent fish & chips and the price is worth it.
