Doing a DTS through YWAM Townsville changed my life in the best way... it was an environment where I grew so much and learned so much in only 5 months and I got to meet some of the most amazing people who now will be my lifelong friends! People can always find something to complain about in anything, but it's our choice to choose joy and to be thankful so that's what I did. These types of experiences are ones where you're only going to get out what you're willing to put in (that's how our life with the Lord is)! Are we willing to give everything to The Creator? Are we willing to make sacrifices and lay it down at the cross? Those should be the questions we ask ourselves. Everyone will have a different experience with YWAM (or missions in general) because of our obedience and willingness to grow and change and develop! :) Let's be willing!!

A group disillusioned people who are sucking in young people by praying on their insecurities and convincing them that ywam is the answer to feel like they belong as part of a "family" my name is Jared Graves and I attended ywam Townsville for the 2017 January dts. Through attending this school I saw and heard many strange things that would constitute concern but I will only speak as to what I know as fact. When I attended this school I was 17. While there another student who was 21 pursued my very openly and made inappropriate advances on me (I won't get into details but one night while I was drunk actions that were very much illegal happened) I informed ywam staff of what had gone on and not only did they not seem to care about what had happened to me but this student was allowed to stay on the school and much of the blame was placed on me. I was then later kicked out of the school by what would be hearsay in any court of law and left homeless in Townsville qld for roughly 2 1/2 months. During this time ywam not only did not help me but I was ignored on several occasions when I asked for help. I would be promised a meeting to talk about maybe getting a place to stay with them and then this meeting would never come. Very sad that an organisation claiming Jesus Christ as lord would let this happen.

I contacted YWAM today to see if they could followup on a woman who was currently in Townsville undergoing medical treatment. She will be going back to her village in about 6 weeks. She also has a baby with her. I was told that the service doesn't do any work in Port MOresby - even though I wasn't asked which province this woman came from at this stage. I said that she was from a village on the east coast near Mabadawane and Saibi. But was told that the service only do work where the ship stops but I was unable to ascertain where the ship stopped. I am posting this because I'm not sure what I expected, but I was a little disappointed. No doubt the service is valuable, however, I was left wondering just where in PNG it provides medical intervention.
