A famous eatery for unsw students and people live nearby. They provide a series of Chinese food and the price is also reasonable. We ordered the lemon chicken, rice noodle with beef, stew eggplant pot and congee. The chicken tasted really amazing, pieces of succulent chicken with sweet and sour flavour. I like that kind of feeling very much. It also has many other set meals with an adorable price at 12. My friend also mentioned the congee here so i had a taste, and it was really nice and the rice was stewed for a long time but of too large size. So I had to pack it for my next meal.
The people who runs this restaurant did a bad service to their customers although foods were delicious. I tried to ask them for ordering at least 5 times but no one responded. Suck bad services I never experienced in other place around Kingsford. Never come back again to this restaurant! Their boss ignore every customer!
Decent, cheap no nonsense Chinese food. Food is quite salty and service can be a bit slow during the peak meal periods.
Living locally with my girlfriend, we'd order food here weekly and it never disappoints. Service is good, food is typically served quickly with consistent quality, good flavors if you're accustom to the Chinese cuisine as cooked by regular everyday restaurants such as this. Suitably priced.
As an university student, I adore this place. It's always a backup restaurant when I run out of other places i can think of when I'm at uni til night time. Service is quick and there's always attentive staff. Their crispy skin chicken, vegetables and beef are my favourites and I always order one of these three whenever I head over!
I've eaten at Kitchen Enlightenment at least 20 times over the years and have enjoyed it every time. It is best enjoyed with a group of at least four so that you can order many different dishes and share the food around. Their prices are very good for the amount of food and their service is firendly. I will definitely go back again and again.
In an area where its hard to pick a restaurant out of the many, it was truly awesome to have picked this little gem for my Friday night feast! I have never seen a menu so big and at first I was concerned about the wait time with so many customers filling the place and the diversity of food. The menu had massive pictures of most of the dishes and they all looked amazing. I was super happy that the meals looked almost exactly like the pictures and even more delighted that they tasted as mouth watering as they looked! The name says "enlightenment" and I was truly enlightened.
While out hunting for a late midweek dinner, C & I decided to try this local Chinese eatery. Drawn in by the restaurant's namesake promise of Enlightenment, we had hopes for a decent dinner. Sadly, we were not enlightened by the meal. Food was very average & most dishes were too oily, heavy on sauces & yet rather bland. On a good note though, pricing is 'student friendly' & the kitchen closes late.
Fast and friendly with a really big menu. Our choices - mushrooms with greens, salt and pepper bean curd and vegetable fried rice - were a little on the bland side but still good. And big servings which was great. My dining companion was horrified by the toilets though. I didn't venture there - I'd rather not know!
Never before have I actually wanted to walk out of somewhere. Used to adore the food at this place. Waited 10 minutes at the door for any acknowledgement, then once we actually got served and got a table, we waited 40 minutes to only get served cold rice and very weak tea. Once I asked about the status of the food, after watching every other table who had ordered after us get theirs, I asked the waitress and then got ignored. Also the current menu is chaos and not organised at all. Very strange to have a place redesign a menu layout for the worse.
