Don't bother with these guys. They just take your money and refuse to pay out for reasonable expenses due to trip interruption. Despite there being clear wording in their documentation that hotels etc are covered during trip interruptions/flight cancellations etc, they actually don't pay out. So in other words they happily take money for a service they actually don't provide. We're leaving tomorrow, our connecting flight out of Dallas was moved to the next day due to weather, we have to book a hotel overnight, but WN won't cover it because 'technically' we haven't left on our trip yet. So maybe the take home is don't bother telling them about any trip disruptions until after the fact. Scam.
Well, to add further insult, I sent in a note to the below response on 11/16 to my previously written review below and never heard back on that either . I even referenced Belinda's name & this Google review with an attached image. Yes, it's super easy to sign up & pay up for this insurance ... but to get a response or claim reimbursed seems impossible. My most recent policy that I sent in claims for trip disruption & flight cancelation is WNUSA22565598. I have not been reimbursed for any claims I've submitted lately and when asked why, I have never heard back. What is going on ???
Took many hours just to get a $200 claim filed for missing luggage for 5 days. Had all receipts, they are extremely short staffed and have no ability to properly process a claim. Absolutely worthless. Countless emails and hours spent collecting $200. Multiple companies involved in the process, might have been some mergers or something but complete chaos.
DO NOT BUY! They take weeks and weeks to respond. The claim can not even be made on the website unless you have it merged to another account which takes persistent emails to get them to do. I went through the worst recorded flood in this area. They would not cover my baggage being shipped back to my home country after it was stuck at the flood site for a month. All insurance companies are money hungry scammers but this one is especially bad.
I have used World Nomad for years. My first claim has been rejected due to a pre-existing medical condition. There was no treatment or diagnosis however there was one vague symptom prior that was reported to the emergency doctor when they did their health assessment. Due to that symptom being acknowledged in the medical report the claim was rejected. I caution travellers to really read the product disclosure statement as most other travel insurance companies do not deem a symptom as a pre-existing medical condition and you need prior treatment or diagnosis for it to be pre-existing. I am really disappointed because after many years of loyal custom my first claim has been denied. I thought World Nomads was different but as the old saying goes "insurance is great until you make a claim"
Please do not use this travel insurance, especially if you are on a cruise with Aurora Expeditions. They were recommended by Aurora Expeditions, who I have advised of my frustrations. My claim was submitted on 16/2/23. I have had an e-mail requesting information already provided on 6/3/23, and then nothing since then. I am lodging a claim with the insurance ombudsman. Please do not respond with telling me to email info@world nomads. Just deal with my claim ASAP.
Nice and simple to sort out the cover I needed for an upcoming trip, to ensure I got it right I called and the lady I spoke with was very friendly and helpful. Great value compared to anyone else i looked at for Ski Touring/Heli Skiing for a UK resident travelling to British Columbia, Canada! Will be using these guys for all my ski holiday insurance going forward.
I booked early but in meantime my return international flight changed. Unfortunately, no option to update return date and cost to add this extra day was crazy. What good is trip insurance if it doesn't cover the entire trip? Never again!
**EDIT**. After posting this review and being contacted by the company, they refunded the policies in question. I appreciated the customer service, but I would hope there would be an easier way to do this in the future. I have used World Nomads several times. They claim you can cancel your policy if you cancel the trip, but there is no option to do that. Also, they don't confirm your travel dates in any of the several emails they send after you pay for the policy. I've spent money on two policies now that were useless!
Thankfully we have not had to handle a claim. The customer "service" via their third party administrator was just awful the other day. The phone rep seemed completely bored and uninterested in helping us out. Ughhhhhh. I emailed World Nomads about this but heard nothing back---worrisome.
