I stayed at the Woodroffe a few years ago amd had a magnificent stay.nnWoodroffe Hotel is situated in the backstreet of Southport.nnSouthport is about a 10 minute tram ride or 25 minute walk from Cavill Avenue in Surfers Paradise so it is very quiet compared to the frenetic nightlife of Surfers.nnThe hotel seems quite new and modern with all the amenities you will expect.nnRestaurants and Australia Fair shopping centre is within a 5 minute walking distance, so stock up if you don't want to venture out at night time.
Woodroffe Hotel is in a fantastic location if you prefer a vibrant city atmosphere over a secluded stay. The room was well-maintained and comfortable. Note for beach lovers: this hotel doesn't offer sea views, but its convenience more than makes up for it.nnA helpful tip for those traveling with heavy luggage: there are a few steps between the street entrance and the reception desk. However, the hotel provides a small lift specifically for luggage, which makes the process much easier! Its proximity to the G:link station only a 3-minute walk makes exploring the Gold Coast incredibly easy. Overall, a great stay for urban explorers!
Pretty disappointing experience overall and wouldn’t really recommend it.nFor the price you pay, the service just isn’t great. Even if a hotel has fewer stars, you still expect everything to be working properly when you’re paying to stay there, but that wasn’t the case here.nnThe room had a really bad damp smell, which honestly made it unpleasant to stay in. The shower has an open-style design, but it’s poorly thought out because water splashes everywhere and leaves the bathroom wet. A smaller issue, but still worth mentioning, was that there was a TV in the room that didn’t even work not sure why you’d have one there if it doesn’t function.nnThe worst part was having to pay extra for a late checkout — $15 per extra hour, which felt pretty unfair. On top of that, reception only operates until around 8–9 pm, and after that the hotel feels completely unattended. Overall, not a great experience for the money.
It’s not 4-stars hotel. Breakfast is not buffet but they have like 8 sets that we need to choose one and they will prepare for it. The staff so friendly but just the facilities could be improve.
