Staff are really prompt and friendly. We got a seat right away. Food is yum and generous portions. A bar in the bistro area and a separate bar area too. Good ambience with high ceilings, fireplace and an aquarium. Kids get an activity sheet to keep them busy. A good meal to enjoy at woodend.
Food and Service was good. Some opened the bloody toilet door behind us and whole room was full of the smell of urine for a few minutes. What the heck. It felt like we are having our drinks in a public toilet God sake…. Moral of the story is don’t sit close to the toilet door I include a photo of the area.
Best steak I've had in a while, perfectly cooked. The Australian prawns were great, well seasoned. Staff were very friendly and cheerful. The place has a great atmosphere and the building is very charming.
Great friendly service. Lovely food good variety on menu. Relaxing atmosphere. Will be going back again
Absolutely loved my gluten free experience here. We each got parmas, one regular, one GF. This was in February 2023 so during the "great chip shortage" the server was super attentive and alert to gluten free needs and actively checked I didn't need to ask that the alternative potato side was still gluten free and cooked separately to avoid cross contamination. This is a really big deal if you're coeliac so it was great service. Parma was delicious, thick tender chicken and a crispy coating. I also liked that the tomato sauce wasn't chunky or oniony.
We originally had a table for 14 people but due to bad weather had many cancellations and ended up with 6. They were so understanding and accommodating it made the whole process a breeze. Food and service was amazing, great range of beers and wines. Thanks again Victoria Hotel for making our visit so enjoyable.
WORSE service topped with WORSE food I have ever had anywhere in the word!! We met up with friends here and upon sitting on a table, we had 4 different wait stuff abusing us to order drinks in less than 10 minutes. We were catching up after a long time and we felt like we were rushed to order drinks and food as soon as we sat down without giving any chance to even look at the menu. Eventually we said we would let them know when we were ready but the last wait member warned /? threatened us to order it now otherwise kitchen would get busy and there would be a wait for our meals. What a joke. Like beginning of our experience was so nice food has finally arrived!! Another joke : Salad with 80% onion ratio compare to other ingredients in it. Tasteless and expensive. My wine came in a glass full of oily finger prints all over it. I was disgusted. We all left without finishing our food to never return to this place ever again. Wouldn't recommend it.
Some friends and I went there for lunch and even though we had booked a table, the dining room was not crowded. Friendly atmosphere and the staff were super friendly. Food was reasonably priced and what we ordered was delicious. The kids were well catered for with colouring in pictures/paper and pencils. Our food came out in a timely manner too. Definitely worth a visit when in Woodend.
This was the perfect place at the perfect time for us. We came on Anzac day, I had the Margarita. Recovering from covid, and having given my suddenly heavy son a shoulder ride up the hill it's not steep but felt it today, I was struggling a bit. Our waitress was Nicole, who could tell I was quite uncomfortable. This place was absolutely smashed, we got in right at the lunch rush. Nicole explained the estimated wait time she said 40 minutes it ended up being about 25 extremely quickly had beverages in front of me, and I was able to recover. Instantly we were made so comfortable and really needed a sit and chill. Couldn't have landed somewhere better. Will be back and recommend this to anyone from anywhere.
My date and I had a lovely lunch here on a weekend road trip to the area. Place opens at midday so plenty of time to explore the local sights before having a very well made Parma and coffee. Service was friendly, efficient and non-intrusive. Place was busy yet didn’t have a stressed vibe. Fireplace was lit adding to the lovely ambience. Can’t fault the experience. Wish I had taken some pics but was too busy enjoying the experience.
