On the 28th September 2025 we had to rush our 6 month old Shih Tzu, Gypsy, to WAVES due to her deciding it would be a great idea to chew a cycad seed and ended up with toxic poisoning from it. All the staff we had dealings with, from the ladies at reception, to the vet nurses and the vets, were all of a very professional, friendly, caring manner. We can not fault the care that was given to our little Gypsy. During her three 3 day stay the staff were so amazing with our little girl. They were so patient with me also, with my daily calls I'll admit I did call multiple times a day haha and allowing us to come in to visit Gypsy daily during her stay. Over the six 6 days of daily blood tests , treatments and care needed, all the staff were absolutely amazing and great to deal with. We don't have pet insurance so it was definitely a very expensive time for us but it was so worth it, due to the staff at WAVES, saving Gypsy's life. It was the most scary and emotional time for us and we are just so thankful for the help we received from all the staff. It's been three 3 weeks now since her poisoning and Gypsy is still on medication for her liver, but she is now running around with her sister and enjoying the good life again. I've attached photos of Gypsy while at WAVES and a recent photo of her now, looking healthy.
We took our boy cat to visit WAVEs straight after visited our normal vet originally. After the first consultation with Dr. Lee at WAVEs, we signed a form, paid deposit and have to let him stay overnight. It was super stressful and with so many checks. Thank Dr. Lee called us at midnight and gave us an update with our cat status. We have to wait until done ultrasound next day.nnThe initial check and tests done, they cannot find the reason and referred to book appointment with medicine.nnWe were worried and concerned with unknowns . And we still try to find the cause, and booked medicine appointment.nnWe came back for the medicine appointment.nDr.Anna tried her best and truly cared about our boy cat, she explained medical examination and potential cause with a clear easy understanding approach.nnAnd she was not happy with the initial lab blood test results and indicated it is contradict, more blood tests will need to be done.nnAppreciated she cared about our concerns, and her honesty. She tried to help as much as she can.nnThen we booked another blood test with our local vet as suggested, and booked ct scan with WAVEs.nnAfter CT scan, Dr. Anna called us and explained the potential cause, and proposed the plan. Unfortunately, we had no other options but have to let our loved boy cat who is also our family member go to “sleep”. We don’t want him “sleep” in hospital and the last thing we can do for him to make him feel safe and comfortable at home. While cannot help but crying, I have to rang and book with rest your paws, and we spoke with Dr. Anna and expressed we would love our boy “sleep” at home and we picked him up from WAVEs.nnThe experience with seeing your loved cat who was a family member getting sick and cannot do anything to cure him was extremely difficult. We appreciated Dr.Anna tried to help and found the cause eventually, and allowed our loved boy stay with us at home on his last day.
Very thankful to the brilliant team at WAVES for taking care of my girl Maisie during a severe bout of haemorrhagic gastro. They provided top notch medical care whilst also going above and beyond to calm Maisie's nerves during her stay in hospital. They sent photos keeping me up to date with her progress and a beautiful staff member even cuddled up with Maisie at bedtime to settle her anxiety and help her sleep. Highly recommend them to anyone needing emergency care for their pets.
Firstly, this is not a cheap vet. Don't come here expecting low prices. However, these vets well and truly earn their pay! My little guy Monti had a horrible accident and literally broke his back, initial prognosis at the emergency vet was either euthanasia or permanent disability. But they referred us to WAVES and my God, they saved my Puppy Boys life! Only 2 weeks after spinal surgery with 6 screws in his little bones and he's walking like nothing happened. He's even able to do zoomies, which is annoying cus he's still on restrictions so hes not allowed to! He hasn't gotten his curly tail back, but I'm hoping it will come back in time.nnEvery step of the way they were fantastic, they explained everything and let me call for updates on him at any time. Their communication in general was fantastic. All the staff were so compassionate and friendly, it was such a stressful experience for me but they handled it perfectly. They never gave me unrealistic expectations either, pretty sure even they've been surprised at my boys recovery so far.nnSo yeah I paid an arm and a leg to fix him, but I consider it a fantastic bargain. My little guy will run again, which is his favourite thing in the whole world besides roast chicken. These people know their stuff and I will forever be grateful to them for saving Monti's life.nnPicture is of him still high on the good stuff after I brought him home
Oh my goodness! Waves emergency is amazing. Our little Lola got rushed to the clinic late at night and Dr Alex, was so so patient and kind with us, she talked us through everything and really took the time to make sure we understood Lola’s diabetes. She then called us as soon as we got home after dropping Lola off and gave us updates throughout!nnLola stayed at the hospital for 24 hours and was so well taken care of. I received call updates every few hours and they were more than accomodating every time I would call.nnThe team at waves from its front of staff reception, to all the doctors, the nurses and most especially to our discharge nurse are all incredible. They really care about the work they do, are compassionate, kind and supportive! They care about your pets not just while they are in their care but are so thorough with discharge.nnLola is doing amazing and we are so grateful for the team at Waves!
