Wesley Church

Story

Wesley Church is a Uniting Church in Perth, Western Australia, located at the corner of William Street and Hay Street. It is one of the oldest church buildings and one of few remaining 19th-century colonial buildings in the City of Perth.ArchitectureWesley Church is built of load-bearing brick laid in Flemish bond in the Victorian academic gothic style and features a landmark spire, steeply pitched roofs, parapeted gables, label (hood) moulds and wall buttressing. The church has a strong verticality of form emphasised by tall lancet windows with plate tracery to the east facade. Angle buttresses divide the nave wall into five bays and the major windows have stucco label moulds above them. The bricks of the building, fired at uncertain temperatures in wood-burning kilns, show a range of mellow tones and, laid in Flemish bond, create a chequerboard effect on the walls, which provides a decorative element to the walls of the building. The spire is 35 metres high with a weathercock on top; it is surrounded by four smaller spires at its base which are capped by metal finials. The north-east tower replicates these smaller spires above the gable. The roof structure is of hand-sawn timber and the roof covering was originally shingles, but at some point the Church was re-roofed in clay tiles.

visited for candle light ghibli a little string quartet and it was beautiful. created the perfect atmosphere for a lil date night! downside is parking is hard to find but thats standard for the city
These people do a free hot drink and biscuits on Saturday and Tuesday nights.. For me this is a relief from the daily anxiety ridden days that I experience. To the gentleman who complained about the location and the "bad people", well homelessness isn't full of bad people, just as life in general isn't, just remember that. Anyone, through a few circumstantial negative situations can end up living rough. I am one and really I don't know what to do to get out of this. Your broad sweeping generalisations and assertions are not welcome
A beautiful place for a small crowd
Small Church on William street, across the road from the Hay Street Mall.. There is a small laneway around the church which has some interesting facts on the ground. The area also had a few places to get food.
Conveniently located with several outreach programs. Very welcome to people of all faiths and backgrounds.
Spent Christmas eve here, so blessed
This is s a lovely church, and very welcoming. The doors are always open for passers-by to pop in for a bit of quiet time. Furthermore, it has an amazing outreach program for Senior Citizens, called Trinity School for Seniors. There are classes and outings to suit every possible field of interest - art, drama, writing, dance, fitness... all with excellent teachers. A bit of self-promo here - I run theatrical dance classes for seniors. But the main thing is fellowship. No matter what your field of interest, you will find like-minded people to talk to about anything under the sun.
Beautiful, serene and quiet, a great breakaway from the busy bustling shopping street. Open in 1870, it is one of the oldest church buildings and one of few remaining 19th-century colonial buildings in Perth CBD. There is a water cooler in the church if you need some water.
Although my visits may be infrequent, whenever I am in Perth, and feel like a quiet prayer time, I know I can find refuge in the Wesley Uniting Church and meditate in the presence of the Lord
Great fellowship and great worship service
