About

A place for people to gather in worship and prayer - either with spoken words, in silence, or in sacred music.

Situated in the heart of the city of Perth, St George's is the principal cathedral of the Anglican Province of Western Australia and the metropolitical Diocese of Perth.

Consecrated in 1888, St George's Cathedral stands as an architectural gem to the glory of God, to the pioneers who funded and constructed it and to the generations of faithful people who have maintained and preserved its fabric and traditions over the years.

St George's is one of only a few cathedrals constructed of handmade bricks.

Its gothic revival design is enhanced by a blend of local and imported materials, including local jarrah roof trusses and arches, limestone from Fremantle, bricks manufactured in three different brickyards along the Swan River, bluestone pillars from Victoria, Oregon pine ceilings, marble reredos manufactured in Italy with English alabaster inserts and a Caen stone pulpit carved in France.

Within the Cathedral are numerous icons, beautiful stained glass windows and memorials to Western Australian pioneers, community leaders and those who served in the wars of the twentieth century. The Soldiers' Chapel is a place of special interest.

The Cathedral's peal of bells, founded as a memorial to Queen Victoria, can be heard each Sunday before the 10.00am Choral Eucharist and 5.00pm Choral Evensong. These services also feature the widely acclaimed Cathedral Choir.

This historic Cathedral in the heart of the city offers traditional Anglican worship, challenging preaching, and a lively Christian community for people of all ages.

"A place for people to gather in worship and prayer – sometimes with spoken words, sometimes in silence, and sometimes enveloped in sacred music. Our doors are open to everyone of any faith or none."

Wow! Such a beautiful old building. So much detail in the lead lighting windows. I could have spent hours here marvelling at the craftsmanship. A beautiful presence of peace at this church. Loved the brass bird statue.
Church with beautiful architecture in the heart of perth. I went there and amazed because there’s art exhibition inside and in general the church is a really pretty place.
Beautiful heritage church in the heart of Perth. Enjoy the peace here.
I have been to this beautiful church numerous of times and always love to pray n feel the peace n Holy Spirit within the church. When u come in afternoon, the sunlight will penetrate through the tinted windows, the colours will spatter on the wall. It's simply beautiful. The colours bring joy n smiles. Best time to visit after 4pm to see these beautiful colours.
The most attractive part of this cathedral to me as a non christian is its beautiful sculpture of St. George slaying the dragon called Ascalon . I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates art and sculpture in particular. The sculpture is located on the St. Georges terrace side of the cathedral and is quote a monolith in White and chrome . I suggest a walking all the way around it as the light hits it in so many different ways changing the whole shape of the sculpture. Well worth a look ...even for us non Christians :O
Wonderfully peaceful atmosphere, beautiful architecture and stained glass windows. I found it a very nice visit even for a non religious person
Christmas Day. Perfect. The Archbishop is a gem.
Fascinated by the splendor medieval architecture of the church. All the worships sung by the angelic choirs during the mass were also really beautiful and peaceful.
