Great garden to wander through and take in the sites. It is very steep in some parts - good exercise walking up! Many people take the cable car up and meander down through the gardens. A fantastic way to spend an afternoon.

Picnic cafe is pretty awesome. The staff are super friendly and most have been around a few years, which must mean they like it too. Great cheese scones, awesome location for meetings. The more I go there, the more I think it's a Wellington gem.

Wellington Botanic Garden is an awesome collection of gardens, walkways, parks and viewpoints.
There are multiple entrances from different directions with easy access.
Some of the attractions at this amazing place include Rose Garden, Remembrance Ridge, Space Place, Herb Garden, Druid Hill, Dick Pond, Cable Car Lookout and many sculptures like Pacemaker, Rudderstone etc.
During summer, beautiful coloured lights are setup around Duck pond and make it an amazing place to visit in late evening.
It is very well maintained and regularly looked after.
Seating and benches are provided at regular distances for taking rest and enjoying the views.
Lot of viewpoints with dedicated viewing areas and seats can be found during the walk.
Good for visiting on a clear day to spend a great time. An ideal place to do a get-together or organise a picnic on a sunny day.
A good place for families, kids and meditation.
Ample parking space. Wheelchair parking is available and there is wheelchair accessible entrance.
Public restrooms are available.

Amazing getaway from the busy city centre, and still being in town! The gardens are marvelous and versatile, you never quite know what you're gonna stumble upon. My recommendation is to by a one-way ticket for the cable-car to the top, and then walk yourself down. Would also recommend having a picnic there, if the weather is good. Finally, public restrooms are well situated throughout the area.

Cable car up, lovely walk down. Well maintained, clean and pleasant. Offering great views of the city , harbour and surrounds. Displaying a good mix of native and exotic plants. The duck pond, bush walk and rose garden are clear highlights. A place I keep going back to.
