Had an excellent experience. We got the car we wanted for our needs, the staff on arrival were friendly and helpful, instructions were clear and the car was waiting for us. The car suited our needs perfectly, was easy to drive and allowed us to do what we wanted over the weekend. Drop off was easy and it was good value for money. We all remarked how smoothly everything had run. Will definitely use again.
Came to Waiheke for a wedding 11 November and rented a Toyota Corolla from Waiheke Car Rental. Was excellent. Communication and follow up was great and whole process simple and efficient. And the price was very fair for the vehicle and service. Nice work team! Thank you.
Initially had a great experience with the staff being very helpful and efficient. After returning the vehicle though, I received an email stating there was a dent in the rear tailgate and that we would be charged $300 but to call the manager if there was a dispute. Both myself and my colleagues In know there was no damage. I couldn't get hold of the manager and my credit card had already been charged the $300 before ever having the chance to dispute the accusation of damage. I was suspicious of something dodgy at the time and now having read other reviews I see there are many examples of Waiheke Car Rentals charging people's credit cards under suspicious circumstances. When returning a car to these guys take photos of EVERYTHING cause they are dodgy!
I had an awful experience as a customer. I was trying to travel with my parents, who are adults and unfortunately the weather conditions were not good so I decided to cancel the booking. The company wanted to avoid giving any solution, and the only answer was that they were in summer and had high passenger demand. The least they could have offered is to be able to use the same booking for the future or some discount. From the consumer's point of view, it's an awful experience, mainly because we called them by phone to explain and even, so they needed more flexibility. I do not recommend this car rental service.
How easy, we walked up to the desk and hired a car for the day within 10mins. Way cheaper than a taxi to and from everywhere we wanted to go and we had until midnight to return. The car was basic but the price is awesome and it made for a great day on the island. Easy pick up, easy return and great service when we booked at the desk.
Absolutely disgusting service. Took money from my account without me agreeing to the rental contract. So they charged me, yet I didn’t even rent the car. Have sent 5 emails now asking for a refund with no contact. They keep ignoring my phone calls too. I have had to pass the information onto a lawyer now. See you in small claims. Judging by the rest of these reviews I’d say they just have no business sense or skills.
This is the worst rental company I ever came across and I dealt with many in different parts of the world. Booked a car, they charged my credit card immediately and later asked them if I could move dates to later date due to sickness. Their answer is "no sorry". They don't even sign their emails so you don't know who you are dealing with. All they are interested in is to take your money and not give you any service. Try to avoid them at any cost, they should be out of any business. Extremely rude and unprofessional.
We had great service from Waiheke Car Rental. Check in to get the car was a very smooth process and everything well explained. When we inadvertently left a package on the pier as we departed they managed to track us down and get it on the next ferry. Very impressed with their service.
DO NOT USE THESE GUYS - we rented a car over the summer break and had a horrible experience. We booked a car online, which was on special. We had not received a confirmation email so had to call them the day before we were meant to pick up to make sure the booking had gone through. On the day they advised us that they didn't the car we had booked so had to change us to a smaller hatchback which ended up being more expensive. Didn't really feel like we had much choice so we agreed. The car was older and car seats we hired has seen better days.. On return we filled up the car and dropped the keys off. The next day we get an email saying we've been charged $37 as we didnt refuel the car and leave a petrol receipt inside the glove box.. This included a $20 service charge and $17 worth of petrol. I emailed back with the credit card receipt from BP which was about 1k away from the ferry terminal and saying it was filled up before we dropped it off. The owner respond saying because we didn't leave the receipt in the glove box the charge would stand and accuses us of lying and saying the credit card receipt doesn't prove we filled up the petrol and then proceeds to stop all communications. Use at your own risk!
AVOID AVOID AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Took a payment for a fine we incurred for a parking violation Disputable without notification, from my brothers credit card, who wasn't even driving the car that incurred the fine. Dodgy opportunists, plus added extra on the fine for processing at $25. All acceptable to charge for fine and processing, put you simply can not charge someone else's credit card and without notification.
