“VIVA”, meaning “live”, was the name chosen by Viva Dance & Entertainment Co. under the Direction of Argentine born Dancer & Choreographer: Christian Drogo, aimed to capture the passion expressed through music & dance evoked by the Latin Culture.
Since Christian's arrival to Australia in 1989 he explored diverse dance styles in different dance companies as a teacher and performer but was finally drawn back to his roots.
In 1995, Christian Drogo established VIVA Dance & Entertainment Co. and quickly became highly recognized as one of Australia’s leading Latin American Dance Companies & pioneers of the TANGO Argentino movement in Australia.
In 1996, Viva established the 1st authentic Tango Bar in Australia hosting a whole array of local and International artists. Amongst them, The Julio Iglesias Tango Dancers "Roberto & Guillermina", The cast of Internationally renowned show "Tango Pasion" and "Sexteto Mayor Orquestra" of Argentina, acclaimed dancers & choreographers "Carlos & Maria Rivarola", "Pablo Nievas & Valeria Zunino" and many others.
In 1998, Christian created the Viva Annual Dance Tours to Latin America becoming the 1st Dance Company in Australia to lead organised tours, offering students the opportunity to experience first hand the music and local dance in Latin America. Viva successfully coordinated and led travellers through Argentina, Cuba, Peru & Bolivia.
In 2003, VIVA moved its Dance Company to a new residence known as the VIVA CABARET catering to lovers of performing arts, world music, dance & entertainment. It was an exclusive new venue in Melbourne which embraced & celebrated the magic of all of Latin America.
As well as an Instructor and Performer, Christian Drogo is an accomplished choreogrpher and promoter. His credits include training for chracter builder in cinema to Jacek Koman for his role in "Moulin Rouge", Choreography and personal dance trainer to Miranda Otto in the Australian feature film "Dead Letter Office", Choreography and starred in short films "Amor" (Director: Jean Pierre Mignon), "Takes two to Tango", Performer in television series "The secret life of us", personal tango training and choreography to the crew of "Circus Oz", Tango Dance training to "Ballet Nacional Teatro America" (Havana - Cuba), "Satango" The devils Tango (Australian Musical) as well as numerous other National television comercials and productions.
Christian's promotional work includes The first Australian Tango Festival, Tangoz Congress and various others.
As an Instructor, Christian has also given workshops, classes and exhibitions all over Australia, New Zeland, Cuba and Argentina.
In 2009, Christian Drogo took a well deserved 6 month sabbatical and embarked on a personal dance tour through Argentina. He returned refreshed with new and exciting material for Viva's new venture and venue, situated in the heart of the Latin quarter of inner city Melbourne.
He combines his passion & expertise into a total entertainment concept... a true cultural experience!
